Official info on the ZCP has been published and it does not have the HAS springs.

i'd probably want to retrofit the springs if the zcp springs lowered the car a tiny bit (10mm) instead of shelling out $1500 for the m-perf height adjustable springs.

Q: What are the details of the M4 M Performance Suspension?
A: The M4 M Performance Suspension maintains the factory adaptive EDC function and uses your factory struts to retain adjustability depending on driving experience mode selected (comfort, sport or sport+). It’s paired with stiffer springs and a revised bumpstop tuned for better performance. It comes with an adjustable perch for height adjustability (from 5mm to 25mm drop). The kit is developed in conjunction with KW and it is based on their sleeve-over suspension kit. The difference with the BMW M Performance coilover kit is the M Performance Specific spring rates, bumpstops, and assorted hardware. As with all BMW M Performance Parts, the factory warranty is retained when installed by a trained BMW technician. The springs are manufactured by KW specifically to BMW M’s spring rates and the kit has been tested on a four post rig and fine tuned at the Nurburgring. The reason why retaining EDC function was important is because the take rate on EDC is 70-80% on the M3/M4 in the US. For your reference, the M4 on the SEMA floor is lowered 20mm. |

Staying tuned to this thread and awaiting release of these. anyone has any idea of the release date? December is gone and january is almost done. Car gets here in mid February and chances of getting it port installed continue to slip away.

I'm my mind, I'm thinking April is more likely than February. But I have no facts to back that up...

I wonder how the spring rates for the new M performance springs will compare to the springs that come with the zcp. Also would be interested in which set up will perform better on track/street. Will zcp suspension set up even be available for folks who want to upgrade pre-zcp era f8x cars?

I'd be curious to know if our adaptive dampners can be tuned through coding....please forgive me if that is an ignorant question, as I dont know if this can be a cessed this way, but how cool would that be, if the damping could be adjusted to better match stiffer springs without having to change any hardware.....

If M Performance Suspensions is basically KW H.A.S. why just not get KW first?
Then again... maybe it's safety... o.o

I think it is just BMW wanting to get in on the action. The R&D has already been done, they will just re-brand it and warranty it. For me though, I am not happy with the damping tuning of the shocks themselves, so I know springs will not help that issue. I am skipping all sleeve kits and going for a true coilover when Bilstein comes out with their B-16 Damptronics

I agree with CanAutM3 that the M-Perf Coilovers will be tuned differently from the KW HAS. Although KW is manufacturing them, BMW most likely wanted a different spring rate; this is obvious in the spring shape itself. The other obvious difference is the design of the sleeves. Just because BMW contracts a manufacturer to make them a part doesn't mean they have no say in the specifications of the said part. Take for example, the special F8X Michelin PSS tires and Brembo brakes; they aren't just rebranded off the shelf products. That being said, I don't believe in BMW's press releases anymore. One of their press releases said that the ASD was the real engine sound. It turns out that was a lie. |

That is a very good point. We have been deceived on a few occasions.

Yessir. The OEM spec Michelin PSS that comes with the M3/M4 are different from the regular Michelin PSS.
