DataDisplay AK-Motion (AWRON Alternative)

https://burkhart-engineering.com/en/...etition-kopie/

Anyone ever use this on a F8X? Now with the Awron discontinued, and also the dead pixel issue on those units. This looks like a promising alternative. More popular in the M2 crowds and i was wondering if anyone had installed one in a F8X? Looking for your thoughts and review.

I bought and installed a gauge from P3 a couple months ago. It displays a lot of the same data and doesn't take up a whole vent. It uses half the vent on the drivers side closest to the door. So far I am happy with it.

This looks good. Any cons with the unit and did you do the install yourself?

also looking at the description, there's a function for sound tuning other than active sound called switching sound tuning. do you know what this function is? thanks in advance!

Switching sound tuning ("pop/blubber" - F series function)

Switching Active Sound Design (engine sound from the speakers - F Series function

Do you know if this can be changed to us numbers? For degrees Fahrenheit and such?

Disabling sound tuning will disable the pop and bang feature in sport / sport plus.
All in all: I can highly recomment the AK Motion Display, as it is engineered by a german guy and provides frequent updates and also answers to user feedback. The installation is easy, has to be connected to the wiring harness in the passenger side footwell.
Additionally, you can modify the layout on your own using a graphical editor.

Whoa. Where has this gem been hiding? Can this really turn off the firecracker/pop/bang/"burble" in Sport/Sport+ in ZCP cars? That would be amazing since I thought the only way you could do that was via a tune.

+1 curious to hear more. Can this do the opposite on a non zcp (turn on burbles w/o a tune?)

Have a look here: http://datadisplay.store/en/content/14-manual

The section mentions the following functionality:
Sound tuning off: F-series function. If the vehicle has "sound tuning" (sporty sound of the engine by popping / bubbling when accelerating, which is active in Sport + mode, for example), this function can be deactivated.

And yes, it totally disables the pop & bang feature. Very nice, as here in Germany the regulations regarding the sound emissions of a car are very restrictive. By disabling the burbles, the car is a lot "quieter" during the test cycles, which may be done by the cops on the road...

Have a look at the following video of an aftermarket exhaust. There the feature is demonstrated:

Got it - thanks for your Intel!

It's really interesting how they can disable burbles on the fly. Wonder which module it is messing with to do so.

Easy feature. With one touch of the button, you can control the flaps. Open, close or automatic.

You also can turn burbles of via ISTA - I think in the DME functions..
I guess the Display just makes use of that. Same for the Exhaustflaps.
That should be the reason, why it cant turn burble on, if the DME dosnt have it from factory.

Do I understand it correctly, that this AK motion unit helps to completely resolve the issue for OPF cars (Europe). So in case you change the OEM exhaust with OPF to aftermarket exhaust deleting the OPFs and you add this AK motion unit, then the system is not throwing any errors that OPFs are not there anymore?
