OEM CCB rotors & pads - 3000 mile take-offs mint condition
Selling a set of 4 (full set front and back) OEM carbon rotors AND pads. These were taken off at 3500 miles from a gently driven street M3 CS and put away. I have weighed them in the pictures below (carbon rotor life is expressed in net weight not thickness) and you can see they are barely used. Also shown are the wear markers. As long as you have the 6 piston front / 4 rear calipers, this would make a very cost effective full carbon conversion. See post below for minimum weight printed on each rotor and current weight. In case you were wondering how much rotating unsprung mass this carbon conversion would save you, here you go (~45 lbs which is a ridiculous amount of unsprung weight): Last edited by USSEnterprise; 02-06-2022 at 02:39 PM.. |

* I will be happy to do a video call with interested parties and give you a live view of the rotors, weigh them for you on video, answer questions etc. if it helps. * Each carbon rotor has a unique minimum weight printed on the rotor itself. The two front rotors don't weigh exactly the same and likewise, the two rear rotors don't weigh exactly the same. Here are individual pictures of all 4 rotors showing minimum weight printed on each. The current weight of the rotors far exceeds this weight, demonstrating the authenticity that these were taken off at 3500 miles and put away. Two rears: Two fronts: Last edited by USSEnterprise; 02-06-2022 at 02:26 PM.. |

* I will now ship these anywhere in continental USA for the asking price. It will ship insured and professionally packed. * I will be happy to do a video call with interested parties and give you a live view of the rotors, weigh them for you on video, answer questions etc. if it helps. * Each carbon rotor has a unique minimum weight printed on the rotor itself. Two rears: Is the rotor delaminated or is it being distorted by plastic bag? I'm referencing the black looking chip between the cooling holes. This is a nice deal if that rotor is ok.

Here are a bunch more pics. Please note that driver's front rotor has a small nick on the back side less than 1 mm across and probably less than 0.5mm in depth. The nick is mostly outside the pad sweep area and within what BMW considers normal wear. Pic included with my thumbnail to show scale. Price adjusted to reflect.

The 3 spots on the rotor that indicate wear, they appear to be faded which means worn out. My CCBs have almost 60k miles and have wear indicators that are more visible.

Here: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1731307 More pertinent is rotor weight. Carbon rotors are weighed to denote how much material is left. |

The link that you posted counters this and my link above appears to be dealer specific. Either way, it's odd that my rotors at almost 60K have those indicators showing more or a shaded dot than the ones you're selling. When you say pits, that implies a cavity by design, please confirm if that's what you mean and I will confirm on my end. Also, I am not trying to be a jerk, I may actually buy these off you as a backup set when it's time to replace mine. |

This is from the link you posted: Cliff notes: new rotors, wear markers are "faded" old rotors: wear markers are pitted. The wear markers become more "visible" as the rotor ages and carbon buildup wears off. Sounds to me like your 60k rotors are showing more wear. Besides, you see a thread full of high-res pics including weights of the rotors and voluntary disclosure of imperfections and you think I would try to pass off worn rotors as newer rotors? |

They will go fast with track use......mine have 40k+ and a lot of hard breaking mountain runs on them and don't look that rough. One of them look like it has some grooving. Additionally the pads show hot spot glazing

With however many miles the rotors and pads have, even if 3k-4k miles, were they ever tracked within those miles? Looks like they were tracked before you swapped over to Girodiscs.
I almost bought these and gave you a very fair offer of $2.7k PayPal or $2.5k on Venmo + I'd cover shipping, prior to knowing that one of them had a chip on the disc - which you never disclosed to me. Very glad you didn't accept my offer. Phheww! And then you dropped the price to 3k. Lol. It's funny how you were giving me grief about wanting to pay with PayPal even though I don't accept PayPal, but there's a big difference in my iTrader rating and reputation and yours. No wonder you didn't want to accept PayPal. Thank God I didn't buy these! Glws. Lol. |

These are the weights I noted down when on a video call with the seller:
FR min 7125g Actual 16.2lbs 7348g d=223 FL min 7244g Actual 16.5lbs 7484g d=240 RL min 5743g Actual 12.8lbs 5805/6g d=62/3 RR min 5773g Actual 12.9lbs 5851 d=78 And I asked the seller via text: I wonder why the rears are so close to minimum grams. Not sure if thats something I should be concerned about. Thoughts? How can 3k-4k mile CCB discs be so worn down with so little use? |

Pictures speak for themselves. Some of you including the gentleman above who didn't know how to read wear on the rotor are amusing.
I am glad my full disclosure and countless pictures are giving you enough detail to make an informed decision. I'm being transparent and sharing all my information in good faith. If you are not convinced, that's perfectly OK, there's other carbon rotors you can buy. This is how good online marketplaces are supposed to work so we are doing it right. Lol. Every one knows the answer to that by looking at how used these discs and pads are for '3k street' miles. Oh and why didn't you disclose the chip before to me during our several conversations and the video conference? Then trying to post in my threads to beware. Lol. Pathetic. These CCB discs and pads your selling aren't worth anywhere near what you're asking. Trying to fool people into believing '3k street' miles and not disclosing they've been really abused on the track. |

Let me repeat myself since you asked again. No these rotors and pads were never tracked. Why don't the rear rotors have as much meat as the fronts? No idea, you can call BMW and ask. My guess is rears do less than 30% of the braking so BMW doesn't feel the need to add as much meat to the rears as they do the fronts. Don't take my word for it, do your own research, that's why I provide the weights. You were on that video call with me right? Did you notice that chip? Why didn't you? Wasn't that the entire point of the video call? The nick is on the back side of one of the rotors and extremely hard to even notice because its so small. As soon as I noticed it, I posted it, as any honorable person would do. I find it very amusing that you are attacking a seller for voluntarily posting 50 pictures of their product and disclosing precise information including weights. I didn't sell them to you because you lowballed me and I just didn't like you, and I can do without the proceeds of this sale. Trying to turn that disappointment into attacking my FS thread is a bit childish. If you want rotors that weigh the same as brand new rotors and pads that look brand new, you should simply buy them new from BMW. BMW may even take paypal and you can put it on your credit card like you wanted to do. Last edited by USSEnterprise; 02-10-2022 at 11:59 AM.. |
