I believe he's a member on here. I've seen his car at a local F80 meet before.

Looks like he tried to drift the turn and miscalculated

Ok, how about not dumb enough to not shut traction control off in front of a bunch of people with phone cameras and hit the gas hard in the relative cold/conditions? And potentially oncoming traffic.

Fair?

Can this really happen with traction control on? My TC is so invasive it kicks in even on 3rd to 4th gear shifts when it's cold. It seems the TC won't let the car slip much at all.
If you're going straight probably not because of how intrusive it is. But if you're making an evasive maneuver or a turn at enough speed the car can still kick out on you but TC will save the car from spiraling out of control

Was he just flooring it straight-line and the back got twitchy causing him to drift out? I didn't think this was possible but that old post with that red M4 got me thinking.

If he was trying to drift, then what happened is not surprising.

In both cases of the 2 cars, both were non ZCP cars. Wondering if that was a factor.

This - my superior skills are characterized by (1) not pressing a button (2) when any person with eyes and a basic understanding of science would know my tires are cold on a chilly morning after my car has just been sitting at a meet.

Apparently that is the bar for snipers claiming we are bragging about our "highly skilled" driving ability on the forum.

The M4 guy admitted he had T/C fully off and usually drove around like that. That thread was priceless. I give the guy credit for admitting to it, but he as you would expect, he was eviscerated here.

Yeah, that was admirable and he shouldn't have gotten the level of feedback that he did. In both cases, T/C had to be off, but the fact that the rear came out like that should be reminded of how tail happy this can get. It was the same with the E46, but usually when someone tried to sharp turn did it result in tears.

Everybody here has done something stupid or made a poor decision behind the wheel.
But... unfortunately for this guy or gal? someone with a cell phone was capturing the stupidity For us all to judge.
Driver was lucky The car didn’t land in a crowd.

Whatever ...have fun ripping on the guy I get it.

That's the common response here to these everytime. And no, not everyone has done something this stupid behind the wheel. Am I saint, no, this dumb in these situations, I don't think so/possibly debateable.

Unfortunately? What does everyone think the people lined up at the exits at these things are doing? As said, the driver has an Insta account. This day and age I would think everyone would know they are on camera and ready for these to be put on social media instantly. He definitely did, so you better be good at what you are about to do for your fans or else this happens.

Judging by the way the slide looked, to me it looks like he was trying to drift the turn but entered too late and too hot so he panicked. It definitely is possible for it to snap like that on him while going straight though. If he was spinning the tires and went over a decent sized batch of those leaves in the road it could cause the car to basically hydroplane. It actually happened to a friend of mine in his '05 V6 Charger so I'm sure it could happen to an M3 haha

Case in point. Nobody's talking about that GT-R pull because it's a snooze fest

Either way, he's just learned an expensive lesson both financially and publicly.

Possibly, I could definitely see that being his "idea."

Instead........

Thankfully no one was hurt etc.

That was a pretty hard-core lateral hit I do see some airbags deployed.
Hopefully the guy isn’t jacked up or the passenger? Which is where the airbags were deployed.

Yah at that speed and hitting the curb like that looks pretty violent. even how it landed back down was bad. Good thing he wasn't going fast enough for the car to flip.

Anyone know where this is? I think it's near SV auto in santa clara. If he was trying to drift the corner also dangerous as there was a car coming before and after in the opposite direction, so luckily there were no other casualties.
