BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 680.00
Shipping Costs Included

Item Interest
I have a 4 pin crank hub for sale. Back story on why I'm selling this. I bought a used 17 f80 from auction not knowing the history of the vehicle. Had a major oil leak took it in to SSR performance in SoCal decided to upgrade the crank hub (again didn't know I had an upgraded CH) they gave me the CH and said it's still good. There's not crazy abrasion on it just looking to elevate the cost from what I had work done to my f80 so my wife doesn't kill me lol. Willing to ship as well.

This kind of doesn't make any sense. Why on earth would any shop do that?

If a shop uncovers that the hub is already done, why would they re-do it?

You got took for a ride, or something is not adding up.

Well, can you even tell if it has an upgraded crankhub without taking it apart?

At what point did SSR learn that you had an upgraded crank hub already? I'm assuming they asked if you wanted to replace it still and you said yes? Did you prefer a different CH brand? Just curious cause this is interesting.

I changed it because I rather had them do the work of a new one with warranty because I did not know the history of the car or what's been done to it. For a piece of mind. But yes it is the same CH

Before taking it in to the shop I didn't know it was upgraded. They did informed me it has been upgraded but I went ahead and told them to change it for piece of mind and warranty.

Okay Mikey, tell me this. You buy a car not knowing the history of the car because previous owner didn't document any work done to the car, you then buy it regardless because it was a good steal from the auction. $10k cheaper Market value. You then proceed to drive the car and notice a smoke coming out the vents. (Oil leak) then gets worse. Mind you, this is a car I bought for my wife which I care about. Took apart the car to spot where the leak is coming from, found the source. Then take it to a reputable shop, they quoted me for gasket change. Also told me I had an upgraded CH. Again I went ahead and told them to replace it because I wanted the shop warranty for that piece of mind. Took the CH hub and replaced it with a new one. Call me stupid but I went anyways. Just because I didn't know who worked on the car. Previous shop also lathered rtv on tops of oe gaskets. Goes to show how rookie that other shop was. Now with that being said. This car did come with the 4 pin CH one I'm selling BECAUSE I felt it is safer for my wife to drive knowingly I did a proper maintenance for the car. I keep all the docs on file for all the work that has been done. If you think this is stupid then I suggest you keep negative comments to yourself. Thanks

Sounds reasonable to me. It sounds like a "while they were in there" situation.
You should get the installation fixture, fixture bolt and drill bit from SSR to supply the new buyer. Maybe they will give you a new crankhub bolt too or you can buy from BMW.

Thanks! Previous shop didn't put a lot of bolts and nuts back together, RTV the valve cover on the gaskets and even on the oil pan. Also the timing chain inspection cover wasn't fully sealed. Oil was leaking everywhere. I didn't even wanna know what timing was

Do you have the bit, special drill fixture tool and drill fixture bolt to go with it? I'm not sure I could install it without those parts
