BMW F80 M3 2015 air condition is not blowing cold air

There is hissing sound when I turn on the AC , and not blowing cold air .
That sound is something new as the car was pretty quiet with AC functioning right before.
Problem occur as I haven’t been driving the car often
Any suggestion how to fix would be appreciated!

I had a similar issue and it was Evaporator Sensor. It tends to get frozen and the fix from what the SA said was a resistor.

if this is the issue then there's a TSB for it, you can get a TSB clip to fix it. basically just a spacer between the sensor.
this issue normally happen when humidity is HIGH!

Thank you for the suggestion , so i have been searching around and reading through some forum posts from links below , i think i will start from the simple , check if the AC pressure psi is low , then recharge it to see if that will bring back cold air from the AC.

The same problem appeared on my E82 but I was lucky it's under warranty repair.

So i recharged the AC , but the air pressure can only get up to around 25-30 psi and stay there regardless how much more i tried to pump in .

I test drove for around 20- 30 minutes with AC blow cold no problem and there is no more hissing sound.

Today's outdoor temperature is around 80 degree , just not sure why i cant get it up to 40 psi ?

Anyone know what's going on or have similar problem ?

Yes, i updated the result on youtube video ... hissing sound is gone as well

-Update July 2021 - So I got the A/C Pro refrigerant, it come with the air pressure gauge. after recharging it to above 25+ psi, the ac is now functioning with no problem so far for 2 weeks; total driving time for about 2 hours +

Only thing that still concern me is the 25 psi wont go higher when i was charging it, but it was staying there regardless how much more i tried to pump in...

I’ve had exactly the same issue with mine. If I have it recharged it will last for about 9 months and then I recently heard that hissing on starting the car up and now my car does not blow cold air. Must be a very slow leak? Have read that below a certain pressure the compressor turns off as a protection mechanism

I hope ac still runs. Recharging with single gauge is temporary fix. In some cases it could work for some time or make more damage. It needs to be done with gauges on low and high pressure sides simultaneously. Pressure reading will be higher or lower depending on the outside temperature as well.

More important than pressure is weight of the refrigerant and oil put back in if system was compromised or components were replaced. There's a sticker underneath the hood with info for what kind and how many lbs or kg is a fill.

Another important thing is that vacuum pump has to be used for 45min to an hour to pull out any moisture. System under vacuum also helps to check if everything is properly sealed.

If there's no access to vacuum pump and precise weight scale it's best going to shop that works with AC systems.

Yes, compressor turns off if pressure is bellow or above normal.

The AC is still blowing cold air and no hissing sound as of today.
I didnt actually keep checking on it, only used it through out last summer after recharging refrigerant (A/C Pro refrigerant).
I did purposely turned it on one time during the winter just to check if it still works. and then again today.
It has been almost a year since I recharged refrigerant last year June

I will update this post if it has problem again this summer

So the hissing sound isn't supposed to be there? Good to know, I'll try recharging it.

Good post, thank you.
