uncapping speed limiter.

I have seen plenty of different answers browsing the forums and would just like someone to let me know. What is the easiest way I can have my speed uncapped?

I read somewhere that bm3 doesn't uncap the limiter. I was planning on going with that already but I thought I would need something extra. Do I really only need bm3 for uncapping it?

All you need is an engine tune. BM3 is capable of removing the speed limiter.

Select remove limiter in Map Options before flashing BM3.

You can do this via a tuning platform. Personally I use BM3 (I have a review going over every pretty much every aspect of it and how to use it here: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2031816) and if you're interested in BM3 you can generally purchase it used for around $300USD with licenses being posted pretty frequently on the forums. But you should be able to do it on almost every tuning platform with the exception being ecutek (iirc) where you require a tuner to do it for you.

Ok here are the BM3 instructions on how to do it:

1) Log onto your BM3 app or web client (I will be showing it on the web client)

2) Click the hamburger menu on the top left and click my maps

3) Click on the map you want to make the change to (you can make this change to a copy of the stock tune if you wanted to and then flash that to your car):

4) Click config in the top right corner of your map:

5) Scroll down to Vmax and click off:

6) Go back to the previous menu and click flash to flash it to your car.

Remember if you want to make this change to the stock tune you have to make a copy of it (step 4 has a screen shot showing the copy button), otherwise the BM3 alteration protection on the stock tune will not let you make changes to it - in order to protect the copy of your stock tune.

very helpful for the speed limiter. I am also wondering if I am able to use an ots tune for e85 and downpipes or if I am going to need to purchase a custom tune. Thanks for the help.
