Another smoking thread
Strange one with my standard F80 with 39,000m.
Car sat for 3 weeks and then off to dealer for a code of fitness check. Started my usual commute with a 5 minute drive through suburb and then briskly accelerated on motorway on-ramp and noticed a bit of dark smoke that cleared. Thought nothing of it until commute home. Noticed smell of burnt oil coming through air vents in stop go traffic. Turns out it was my car as strong smell when reversed into garage. Went for a run the next day to intestigate further , but seemed ok and didn’t notice any smoke. Had a longer stop go commute today but no issues which has me stumped. Anyone experience anything similar ? Initial thoughts was turbo seals but is there anything else I should be looking for ? |

You probably have a small oil leak. Could be valve cover or turbos. Need to inspect where its coming from.

I have a similar issue. When my car sits for a while, it will smoke near the rear and passengerside of the engine once its warmed up. If its too dirty down there to find the source, clean it all up and check again after a couple drives. |
