Would be nice to see a comparison with the GC/GT with their longer wheelbase.

I am on the fence.

I don't need 4 doors but the times that I have passengers in the rear seat it would be nice for them to feel comfortable. No passengers around 6' in the back seat (the sloping roofline makes it a tight fit).

4 doors do make it easier when transporting 4 wheels/tires track setup on the rear seat.

I am not sure which looks better by viewing photos, I think that these will need to be seen in person to figure out the better looking vehicle, so I am waiting to see both before my final desicion is made.

thats what i am saying. the most common BMW has got to be the 3 series sedan.
Lol! Here you go again! Where do you live? I live in SoCal - the undeniable car mecca - and there are far more coupes rolling around than sedans. Of course, the F-Series coupe just came out and doesn't factor in, but overall there are more coupes. Can somebody posts the number of coupes sold in the U.S. compared to sedans? I know there's a thread on it.

honestly the only thing i hate about cally (besides the stoners) is that nice sports cars are so dam common. i live in a decently rich area in MI, but because of the roads and winter. people tend to buy more practical nice cars.

i probably see one E92 M3 every 3 months or so at best. same with E46! of course at car meets i see the sports cars.

but see new 5 series everyday. i heard over in cally M3s coupes are a everywhere.

Yeah pretty much. Everything is pretty common here.

While I'd ordinarily go with the cheaper option because I am cheap, I'd pay extra for a lighter car. So M4 for me. Pseudo palindrome not intended.
I have read that they are within 24 lbs of each other (can't find the link but I will) and they have identical 0-60 times, both will have 50/50 weight distribution so it is not quite the same logic as the E9X versions. If the performance was different I would go with the M4 but given the match in performance I think the M3 will be in my future

Looks like the official number is 51 Lbs which is roughly 22 kilos. About a 1.75% difference in weight. It will be interesting to see how BMW prices the two models given that they both have carbon fiber roofs etc where in the E9x versions there was a few more differences to justify a slight discount for the sedan versus the coupe.

Consider the fact that you have seen neither cars in real life, the M4 might look better than the M3 in real life with the right options/colors.

No way i'm getting the M3 at this point in life, M4 all the way!!!! (so tired of waiting btw )

The M4 might be .05 mpg more fuel efficient because of the weight saving as well (at this point I'm just throwing shit out there lol)

At this point, I don't feel convinced I want to buy the new M3/M4, but if I do, the 4 door option is appealing from the track perspective.

Trying to fit 4 275/35/18s in the back of my E92 M3 is a real hassle.

One great point is that BMW could have easily made either the M3 or the M4 but thankfully they are going to make both leaving us choices. Between the M3, M4 and hopefully the M2 and well as perhaps grand coupe as well as convertible in the 4 and possibly the 2 there should be something to make everyone happy. With the use of common platforms we will see more and more from makers like BMW and Audi which is only a good thing from my perspective.

M3 looks better than the M4 to me.

Even without kids, there are occasions when a 3rd adult or 4th needs to be in your car. Maybe if you're truly a hermit then the practicality advantage is moot. It's also more difficult to get back there to clean.

I think the M3 also comes across differently. It's a sedan that is sporty and can perform at the level of many sports cars on the road. It's practical, but fast.

The M4 sort of comes across as a sports car wannabe, but it isn't a sports car, and isn't quite as practical. Personally, the look slightly leans too far into "boy racer" territory.

My memory could be partial, but for the M cars in the 90's and early 00's I don't recall such a young following with these cars. They seemed to have more mature/older owners. Today I think the reverse is true, that the less expensive M cars are predominately owned by a younger demographic.

I do not at all think the M3 looks better than M4...The M3 looks almost identical to a 328 M sport. Look at them side by side especially in darker colors.

M4 all the way!! Looks really nice IMO, get in one of exclusive M colors and you got a machine

that's true

but the coupe has the CRFP trunk and also BMW seems to be marketing the coupes (audi style) as "upmarket" relative to the sedans and charging more for them. this is seen big time in the 5/6 series and somewhat in the 3/4 series cars.

the fender flares on the m3 are far more noticeable than those on the m4. therefore, IMO, the m3 looks much different than a 3 series, and more so than the m4 from the 4 series

look at this pic for example

I choose m3. I think it looks much better and is far more convenient

Ive always had 2door cars until the evo ix. Ever since then i realized 4 doors is better!! (If the performance is there as well).

Im keeping the e90m forever so if i do get an f8x it will be the coupe this time. Good to have both?

Plus im getting married soon so if we really need to lug things or ppl around it will be in here new shiny suv-whichever we decide on. Currently she drives the coupe in the family lol.

You cannot be serious. The M3 looks more dissimilar from a regular F30 than an M4 does from an F32.

Every buyer has different needs, just learn never to say never to anything!

Sport cars are the only cars that justify 2-doors. The m3 is not a sports car.

M3 is an all purpose sporty sedan, so given that point, I would not buy a 2-door m3 and with the 4-door m3 looking so much better is just icing on the cake.

We ordered a new M3 over taking a F10 M5 after having hours of seat time behind the M5.
