Question:

What is the thought process / reasoning behind having the M3 debut in yas marina blue and the M4 in Austin yellow? We're these colors chosen as the most flattering colors for each model in BMW's opinion?

Thanks,

Did I just read somewhere in this thread that those 8 colors revealed are the initial color palette for the M3/M4. Wow, that's disappointing.

Not an M specific question.

Will the future of the 3/4 series line grow further apart, in regards to styling, handling, etc

Or will they always keep the 4 series close to the 3.

I assume the 3/4 will grow further apart in the future, but I wonder what this will mean for the M3 nameplate, once the M4 becomes further refined away from a sedan chassis.
Since the 4 series is now a dedicated coupe they can break away from the confines of a sedan chassis and I imagine the performance of the m4 will exceed what the m3 is capable of.

Will the screen go away? Of course it won't. Where would it go to, the air vents?
Heard a rumor from sales guy that the tablet stuck to the dash design will get changed with LCI and possibly have hideaway function. Who knows if he is on to something or blowing smoke, hence the question. Infiniti had hideaway Nav screen capability ten years ago. Is nice, only downside is more moving parts to break.

Couldn't agree more. Thank God there are at least a good number of sensible members/visitors to this forum to still make it worthwhile coming here. Some people's expectations and reactions (and questions fielded to Scott26) are simply unbelieveable... If someone is going to get that bent out of shape for such trivial reasons then go buy another car - nobody is being forced at gunpoint to buy a new M3/M4... Get a grip and just try to focus on the positives a little more...

Does this mean you're going to buy the car despite it not having LED tail lights?!

Thanks,
They are new to the long line of race track inspired colours and not every market wants another shade of black , grey or silver.
Bright colours also show more details.

No. The free standing screen is here to stay at least for a while.
The new approach to interiors will see minimalism , surfaces and a complete de clutter of certain controls. It will be like in a modern lounge where normally the centre piece is the flat screen TV positioned on the wall. In the car the free standing navigation screen will be the focal point.

I actually feel the position of the screen is perfect. I don't have to look down and away from the road to confirm a setting, check directions, or surf for music. I can still glance over with ability to see the road

Gotta bump the "bad colors" comments. Please ask them "What were you thinking with this color palette for the new M cars?" Really, I'd like to hear the answer. I can't understand it.

Sales people know nothing and will say anything they think you want to hear.

In addition to Scott's comments above, there are other things to consider. First, the cost to redesign a dash is enormous. No way it would EVER be redesigned during an LCI. Second, you'd have to re crash test it.

Not happening.

Thanks Scott26,

My point in asking was not to question the colors as much as it was to find out if the M4 would look just as good in yas marina blue... or is it the case that Austin yellow was designed specifically for the M4 and probably looks and shows the lines better than yas marina blue would?

Thanks
