Nice but you need a drop and spacers.

Of course! Spacers on the way. Will hold off on drop until there are more options. Gap looks larger with the skinny wheel/tire.

What do people do when they drive into the middle of nowhere (rural virginia in my case)? I have done this before with the RS4 and always bring a spare rim/tire in the trunk.. Even tho it has never happened, the last thing that I want to do is bust a tire in the middle of rural Virginia, and be absolutely screwed because no one stocks that tire size. Not even the local Audi dealers.. They also informed me it would be like a 2 day delivery if I needed one.

So just curious what others opinions are on this issue and the M3/4 ? The easy solution is just to not drive it to such places
Don't these cars come with run-flat tires? I've had them on every generation starting with 2006.

Nope. M cars get real tires.

Flat insurance

In addition to the compact spare I take on trips, I always carry a plug kit and jack that can be used with the stock MMobility compressor for small punctures. The underfloor trunk well holds quite a bit of small stuff like this.

Lots of room in the underfloor well.

M Cars have lifetime road side assistance from BMW NA for tire related issues since cars come with non RFT and only the repair kit.

Sorry - I meant the tire that is flat. Once you remove it from the car and install your nifty new compact spare - will the OEM fit into the trunk or does it need to go into the passenger seat?

Sorry - yes, it will fit depending on how much other stuff you have in there. Likely you can put some luggage, etc. in the back seat, or fold the seat backs down if you need to. I have carried all four wheels and tires with the seats folded down.

It is a trade-off. With the M exhaust, they can't put the spare where it would conventionally go and if they put a spare in the trunk (boot) their would be no luggage space. BMW obviously figures that their buyers would rather have trunk space than a spare tire. ///M cars have been without a spare for a long time.

It's not in the online store list for some reason, but it's here: http://www.maxxis.com/catalog/tire-4...-compact-spare. My local dealer got it in a few days.

I doubt it fits even the stock brakes, but I do not have confirmation.

Thanks, Greg. What are you using to secure the tire/wheel in your trunk?

If we have CCB we are probably hosed? Since a 19 is needed to clear the calipers?

But I wonder.. would a 17 or 18 fit on one of the rear wheels and still clear CCB calipers ? You could swap wheels temporarily, rear to front, then spare on rear.. if you really needed to.

I really don't think it needs securing as long as the rear seats are up. However, you can use bungees or tie downs crossed from the front tie down loops to those in the rear.
