Ar they indeed painted? Maybe the finish is anodized and hence no paint color?

yeah, I'm pretty sure they are anodized. Thats why people have had them discolor when using harsh wheel/brake cleaning chemicals.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this paint code?

It seems BMW is keeping their code top secret.
Thanks, I saw that previously but nobody seems to know the paint code - or has ever heard of Meridian Gold.

The hunt continues...
It's a proprietary Brembo for M GmbH extremely high temperature paint. Outside of the MCCB calipers, and safety cars, Meridian Gold has been used precisely once.

I've never seen paint do this, but anodizing does if hit with chemicals

Wow this looks amazing! Did you get it refinished through the BMW dealer? Care to share the expected cost? I have some decolorization on mine.

Can you tell me where you had your CCB refinished?

I know this was a post awhile ago. Where did you get your calipers refinished?
Mine are in need.

I contacted Brembo a while ago and this was their response:

The coating used at the BMW M caliper has an oxidation as a base layer and on top a liquid paint. This paint can change its color if it is being confronted with higher temperatures. The paint code is GOLD 1PR (no correspondence to Pantone references etc..).

Unfortunately the paint code GOLD 1PR does not provide us more information if it only used internally by Brembo.

On their website are also 5 reason why not the use repainted calipers:

None of those reasons are sound reasons to avoid repainted calipers - particularly if you know the caliper's origins. It's very likely just marketing from Brembo to buy new vs refinishing.

When you rebuild a caliper to replace boots and seals you almost disassemble it down to a bare caliper anyway so scuffing the caliper and applying fresh paint isn't much more work. So long as the piston buckets and bleeder/crossover ports are covered/plugged its fine.

I can't speak for brembo but ST anodizes their calipers and then applies their painted finish above that.

If you get any brake caliper remotely hot they will discolor unless that color is black.

just came across something that made me think of this thread- It appears people are also Cerakoting their calipers. Cerakote is known a lot in the gun world for high-heat, durable coatings. If you click this link, some of the gold cerakote options look pretty dang good, albeit not exactly the same. Just another option for people...

Hi Technic

I know its been some time since this thread was started, but could you inform us on the paint and method for refurbishing the ccb calipers, as i would like to fix mine as close to oem again as possible.

Kind regards from Denmark.

Post 26 on this page? Anyone ever tried it out?

Could try finding someone at Brembo OEM to answer the question since they're the supplier.

We mixed the colour after scanning it. We used two Mini colours, which is BMW nowadays. They are as follows:
Solid Sienna gold effect
B748297.
And the other.
A782560.

there is no code the calipers. Whoever is painting them or powdercoating them needs to just tint it accordingly. The calipers dont even have a shiny clear on it either. More of a flat finish, which needs to be considered as well

How about WC1P Galvanic Gold Metallic? Anyone have this on an X2 or an i3 and can shoot a pic next to a CCB?
