As to the alarm... yeah I know there's motion because if I toss something in the back in my vert after I lock it the alarm goes off (but another poster prolly called it, smash/grab/run). Also, I thought the glovebox and center console locked with the doors ... did they break those locks or am I mistaken? |

I am always so scared of any glass breaking because of the fact that I know there will always be tiny glass shards inside the car.

At most, this guy know knows the home address of a guy who has an M3... That might indicate it's a nice place and worth robbing - but that's also probably readily available just by driving by. In fact, he'd probably notice all of your neighbors have nice homes too! |

Old thread, but this happened to me in my E46. Two weeks after taking delivery of my F82, on my way to a track day... I feel for you OP, though I'm sure you've all but blocked this from your memories by now.

Man I'm so sorry OP. This exact thing happened to me in my 05 Cayenne a year ago, mid afternoon on a Saturday 1:30 at Woodland Hills LA fitness parking lot. I usually hide my wallet and the one day I don't I get jacked. Left my wallet on the dash but upon reviewing the tapes, these guys targeted my car immediately and spotted it. It's a sad world we leave in, especially now during the holidays. I encourage you to start a thread and spread the word to others in our community. Never leave valuables exposed in the car and avoid bad areas; try parking in populated areas just for the next several weeks

Sorry that this has happened!
I never drove my M3 to Hollywood. Always drove my beater Corolla if I wanted to go to Hollywood. Too many homeless, drunks, etc roaming around there.

Old thread, but just some advice from someone who had to deal with this. The only way to get ALL the glass is with a lint roller. Rip some of it off and fold it to get into the crevasses. Works great to address a depressing issue like this. I know it is old, but still sorry OP.

I never had a dash cam nor ever felt the need for one but as the cams become more commonplace, there is a movement locally to form Informal collective "car watch" groups while the cars are parked ie the cars leave their cams on to watch over each other.
This is a great deterrent to a$$***** who think they can rip off parked cars. I think this is great and this has incentivized me to get a cam installed. |

I bought a 3 series for a work car earlier this year...2 weeks after I bought it the left rear window was busted in my own driveway (nothing was taken). After vacuuming, removing rear seat, and door panel, managed to get it all.
Then a month after that, the same window was broken in a parking lot and a lot of stuff was stolen... I hadn't gotten around to tinting the car at that time, but window tint helps a lot with this kind of stuff. Makes it a little easier to clean up at least. A car should be able to detect broken glass, it's 2015. |

Sorry to see this happen to you OP. This is why I panic when I am forced to park my car outside. The good news is they didn't jack with the panels or anything like that. Some glass can be replaced, but it sucks to have to go through this.
