Oil Change
Where's the best place to go for an oil change and what's the price?
I'd like to get one done in-between the service interval. Dealer is asking $300+tax. Located in GTA-west end. |

I am in Ottawa but I always go to Kingston BMW for any service or part installation. They have great service with a very friendly price for M owners, but I guess you are too far away from there. Last time, they only charged me about 50 bucks for labor on oil change with me bringing my own oil supply and filter. |

I'm gonna ask.... what is your logic behind this?
I'm not being a dick or smart ass just curious as to why you would replace your oil at ~7k. Seems like a waste of time and money to me. |

One thing I can tell you is that you will never lose something by changing your oil often. Yes, you do spend money tho haha. BTW, RMP motors at Etobicoke is one of my favourite place of visit for my oil change back in time. But I DIY now. |

I recommend Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 which you can get from Canadian Tire. around 50 bucks for 5 liters. You need 6.5 Liter. |

Not to hijack the thread but i'm curious what oil brands and weight people run here. For our cooler climates I figured running 0wXX would be better.
I've been a big LiquiMoly user previously but they don't make any 0w oils that I can find. |

I think 5w30 is better oil than 0w30. As long as you don't always park your car outdoors, 5w30 should be find for the winter.

You will need;
1. either jack stand (with BMW jack pad)+ jack OR ramp. 2. wrench with BMW specific wrench cap. 3. Mann-Filter with O-ring. If you want to change the bolt, buy one. 4. Funnel and drain pan. Some adsorbent pads. 7. 6.5 litter of engine oil of your choice. Everything can be found on Amazon. |

Lets say down the road something goes wrong with the engine, one of the things they will check is oil filter and guess what can happen when they see aftermarket part crucial for the engine. |
