So basically "Eff you F80 buyers for getting the last run of production". Couldn't spare a few more striped seat belts? In my short experience with BMW they are a curious and fickle bunch. Make all these unannounced equipment changes and exclusions that screw over both past and future buyers alike. Makes me glad I lease. Anyway sorry for the rant. CS jealousy feels I guess.

Get a base model M3 ($66.5k) and then add (1) a complete set of Dinan upgrades (intake, heat exchanger, rear toe links, sway bars and mono balls), (2) your favorite tune, (3) a front lip, rear spoiler, rear diffuser and side skirts (4) a very nice set of forged lightweight wheels. The total will be around $85k and you will have an F80 that will outperform the CS in every driving category.

Just because you can afford doesn't it make something not "ridiculously priced" (or maybe we should say that they're "ridiculously overpriced") and I agree with that. I specifically said things that one can't afford. You're logic doesn't follow.

Ridiculously priced is an opinion regardless of whether one can afford it or not is my basic point. An individual may think it is and another may not for their own reasons. |

I'll chip in with some UK input.
Just to recap here (I'll make all DCT to be fair) - Base M3/4 £63,100 - ZCP M3/4 £66,100 - M3CS £92,000 ish Quite a few dealers have multiple stock of M3CS's, reduced to around £78k, i.e the non reduced price of a well spec'd ZCP. At that pricing its an amazing car for a true enthusiast that values the performance vs the tech/goodies. Again UK maybe is slightly skewed market as similar things happened with the M2. US and other parts of the world had limited stock and initial sales marked up ast MSRRP, UK eventually had some over supply and there were up to 4xM2 at my quite small local dealer and I snapped up a Pre-Reg a while back. I've done the same with my incoming M3....24.5% discount, not bad at all. Anyway apols, drifted there, my point was just that CS pricing in the UK came down from near Supercar levels to mere mortal. For me I think reviewers always take vehicle price into consideration in their assessment as it is relevant, £100k can buy X or Y, there is always choice.

Agreed. BMW M special editions come and go and prices do drop for the most part with only a few rare exceptions. Unlike Porsche that can seem to pull off pricing power sustainability in the resale market.

I thought were, but I think you have a really good relationship with your dealer, correct? Hopefully others that want them don't find it hard to get a good deal one. I'm sure the usual markets will be nutty here in the US.

CS already is discounted in my neck of the woods. Many many will go unsold at sticker. I predict well over 10k off very very soon and certainly by winter!!

From $95k it will still be a steep depreciation curve but hopefully not as bad as M4GTS that dropped from $128k to $88k in less than two years. |

My F83 was ~$91k in 2016, so to me, the CS pricing at $105ish seems about right for the performance premium.

The ZCP is so sharp, balanced and precise, and, can be had with a manual, and, is much, much cheaper, that it's hard to imagine the CS being better enough to justify the substantial price hike.
The CS pretty much gets you a good torque bump, revised DSC/Diff software, Sport Cup tires (probably not good for general street use) and less weight(?), relative to a ZCP car. Other than the exclusivity and the extra torque, I don't see much else making a practical difference and so it's hard for me to see why someone would pay so much more for the CS over a, say, a stripper ZCP car. Now, without having driven the CS, the car probably is fantastic to flog and could be the next coming of christ. But on the surface, the ZCP package seems to be the sweet spot/best value. This is why I think the price is an issue. Because the next model down is ULTRA good and way, way cheaper. |

I just recently saw one at my dealer - Sticker was 126.000€, after one month and 900km driven by the dealership, the car was just 95.000€. Thats a whole basic 3 series off the sticker price just because of 900km. The CS models are sitting everywhere in Germany - the limitation is just not relevant because you can basically get them for ZCP money. It is no enthuasiast car - it would be, maybe with a manual and as a stripper or hardcore track car. It is a bit different to a ZCP and I would love to have one, but it is nowhere close to a GT3 vs. Carrera S comparison.
