Where do you buy?

Hello All!

Wanted to know where you all buy your mods/maintenance items or other things related to your F8x. If you can please explain why also you choose them over any competitor you dont use. Just looking to gauge where everyone buys from and where I should too.

If you have any complaint's about the stores you listed that would be great too!

ECS = Specialty tools (strut socket, brake bleeder, etc.)

FCP = Consumables (brake pads, air filters, etc.) - takes advantage of lifetime replacement warranty. I'd buy everything from here if they stocked everything I needed.

Amazon = Miscellaneous items like jack stands, jack adapters, ramps, etc. - bought oil from Amazon before, never will again as one of them was not sealed correctly.

Walmart = Oil - Good old Castrol 0W-40. Always in stock in the Martinez Walmart

FCP euro is good because you can return used maintenance items and get a refund when you replace them with new ones

ECS is good too

I bought a bunch of bolt-ons through Mike@X-PH and always had good service. He beats any lowest price.

FCPEuro is great, like the others said. I cycle my spark plugs through them, and I even heard they cycle oil too.

X-PH is great for buying mods. Fastest fucking shipping and processing I've ever seen in my life.

Having taken my m4 from from stock to FBO / tuned / full exhaust / suspension in the last half year , I have utilized quite a few different websites. No complaints with any of them, all good service.

Some parts had some serious lead time as a result of the world wide pandemic. This was to be expected as a result of a lack of raw materials or interrupted part supply. In any case, I was warned of this during the purchase process, so I was aware of this prior to transaction completion. I would keep an eye on availability , as this has been, or could still be, a potential issue irregardless of which vendor you choose.

X-PH , Turner , and Autotalent I used more than the others. All excellent experiences. I dealt with Mishimoto for many items as well directly and was impressed with them.

The customer service with these places was top notch. Most, if not all of the vendors that advertise on here are of this quality. I don't know that there is one to avoid per say.

Just as with any purchase , do some research on the item and check multiple sources. Keep an eye for deals / specials posted here by the vendors themselves. They have their own section for this. Lets not forget about the member classifieds as well , sometimes you can score a deal there for something you want.

These forums are a wealth of information. I'd be lost without them.

I try to buy as much from FCP Euro as much as possible for maintenance items. Not motor oil though because I don’t think it’s worth returning motor oil.

My car is bone-stock.
If I were to mod, I'd try EAS in SoCal.
Since my E90 days, I've enjoyed their mods blog.

It's nice that we have an oil engineer on the site who recommends Valvoline European Vehicle 5w40 as great for us daily drivers, due to BMW+Porsche certifications, high quality stock, appropriate additives and oxidation resistance. Again, good for daily drivers and street racers, just not the track rats.

This means 5L jugs from Amazon for $24 with free shipping!!!

EAS since they are local and they have worked on my previous F80.

BMW of South Atlanta is ~30 mins away from me and generally has the best prices on OEM parts. It can be a little bit more than FCP/ECS/Turner, but they have the parts ready for pickup same day/next day.

FCP/ECS/Turner takes 1+ week to get parts or you have to pay for shipping and they are often out of stock. I waited for 3 weeks once for parts from Turner that were "in stock" and I'll never shop with them again.

I like to support FCP Euro since they are local to me and host car shows during the summer.

ECS Tuning is good too, X-PH for my midpipe, and Rockauto if I know the part numbers off the top of my head.

Personally so far I've purchased most of my mods from IND. I've had amazing experiences with their customer support. And some of their products might be a little pricey but I always feel safe buying from them as their quality has been perfect. I've also purchased from ECS Tuning and EAS without any issues and they definitely have more of a selection to choose from compared to IND.
