But is there a way to double check that the car is on the desired map. The counting of click could go wrong and the car would be on a map that it shouldn't be on.

Once you hook up your laptop to the JB4 it will tell you what map your in.

Yes, you would need to buy the whole package, you also would need the cable to update the JB4 when Terry sends out the free upgrades.
