Is the 5k rpm limit a mare suggestion?
I was wondering if anyone knew for certain if the 5k rpm limit was a suggestion, recommendation, or a requirement? I've got 820 miles and wanna see what that redline feels like, but I don't want to do anything to hurt the car or its proper break in period.

I am only at 120km (= ~75 miles).
Can't wait until the first service... Thinking of going on a nice weekend drive somewhere

Then follow BMW's procedure. Will the car explode if you run it up to 6 or 7k? No, but you will not be breaking it in per the manufacturers recommendations. Nobody outside of BMW's engineering department knows the REAL answer to your question, including anyone here who pretends to.
