So, when it's looked at, the only bespoke engine M have made since the E28 and E34 M5s engine (which was made for the M1 iirc) for street cars is the S85 V10. The S65 V8 was basically a 20% diet of that engine (and before people go nuts, yes they were lovely but would've been far better in lighter cars).

Just adding some facts to the revisionist history that goes on around here. Too many people who've never had grease in their hands think displacement is what defines engines.
Little hole in your logic. S65 motor was based on S85, which was a "bespoke motor" according to you. Therefore, the S65 was not based upon a "regular-series engine" by definition. Therefore, it follows that it is the ONLY bespoke V-8 engine made by BMW. Your comments about a lighter car, while true, are irrelevant with respect to whether the S65 motor was "bespoke." It was.

The S55 is also "bespoke" for the F8X

Nice try overly defensive E92 owner. I already clearly made that distinction. Re-read my post, there's a "little hole" in your comprehension.

So you are saying the 3.2 engine in the E46 was *not* incredibly similar to the 3.2 Evo engine in the E36? Hmmmm.

I respect that opinion. But personally I think the contrary.

Oh. I see. It's my reading comprehension... So when you said "only" bespoke motor for a road car, you meant something else entirely. My bad. Carry on, while I brush up on basic grammar and vocabulary. I don't think "only" means what you think it means.

And all these engines are just further developments/refinements of the original engine in the Model T Ford, which was just a further refinement of the original reciprocating engine......

And the F-35 is just a refinement of the Wright Bros plane.

Do you feel better now?

Feels like 2007/2008 all over again with disgruntled E46 ZCP owners (05/06) pooping on the new E9X....

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say we all appreciate your contribution to this new S55 community. Cannot wait to see what you deliver to the board next.
