>400hp and >400 tq rwd cars have been around for a long time and with less potent diffs, weighed less, and had less traction issues.

This is a combination of tire and engine tuning and maybe one or two other things we'll see come out over time. This will be fixable and it's not that big of a deal stock either.

I'm still learning more and more about the F8X, but I've also driven (and owned) my fair share of high power cars before this. So I also have my own assumptions and thoughts. I'm planning on trying to run a set of 325 (or 305 if a 325 won't fit) Pilot Sport Cups or Toyo R888's.

And by that, I simply meant that I've had no issues handling how powered cars up to this point. So I don't plan on making this a first.
The 305's won't make that much of a difference. I'm running them and have tested it. And I'd love to see someone fit 325's on but I doubt that will happen. My 305's come within about 2mm of rubbing on 11" wide wheels.

Most guys who want to add a bunch of power aren't going to be hardcore road course drivers -- at least that's been my experience. They're the guys who want a fast street car, and are likely to go to the drags or airstrip events with their cars.

The F80/82 is quick and fun in stock form, but a 116-119 MPH tapping car isn't all that fast by todays standards. Those with modified N54 cars have been experiencing this kind of torque for a long time. My daily driver E90 is more powerful and likely quicker in a straight line than a stock F80/82. The thing makes 480 RWTQ and I'm only running a stock sized PSS out back. Yet it's still manageable in my opinion. The thing was an absolute drift machine on the stock RFTs, but I loved every minute of it.

My supercharged GS 'Vette makes 550 RWHP/540 RWTQ, but I think it needs more. My last build made ~730 RWHP, and it was just about perfect to me. Those of us that have been building and driving high powered cars for a long time are the guys longing for more power from the new M3. Is it necessary? No, but I actually like doing 70 MPH burnouts.

To each their own, of course.

The problem in your case is that your tires have a smaller overall diameter than the stock tires, so being wider won't help for straight-line traction. You have less sidewall, which needs to flex a bit for tires to hook up off the line and under acceleration.

You'd need to go with a larger diameter tire, such as a 295/35/19 or 305/35/19, both of which should give better straight-line traction than stock and your setup.

Would a running a little lower tire pressure make any difference at all? For instance running 29 - 30 lbs rather than the 32 that is recommended?

What 305s did you go with? My RE-11s made a HUGE difference in traction. I am on a JB4 with other mods though. Perhaps on a stock car it wouldn't seem too much different.

EDIT: Just saw you are on 20s. That's probably the biggest issue.

That all depends on what tire you're running. I could run a stock size tire that would grip more than a 325 tire. Also depends on the profile of your tire, as well. Lower profile = less grip.

In regards to fitment, you may have been close to rubbing on the fender side, but I'm sure you've still got plenty of room left on the other side for another of wheel/tire. I plan on running either a 19x11 +40 & 305/35 or a 19x12 +52 & 325/35.

325s will be beyond overkill unless you're going for aesthetics alone.

Driving a fwd 550 whp Honda on a street for many years, to a 1000+WHP Civic at a track, the M4 feels slow to me lol. As far as traction goes it IS as easy as putting a good tire on the car to a certain extent. I don't know what whp my 4 is putting down right now with the ESS E-tronic kit I just put on, it deft feels faster that's for sure. Thinking about putting it on the rollers next week. I also did some Advans RD08R's because I think the pilot sports are some of the worst tires (actually the first thing I did after I bought the car) Does the car dead hook from a dig? NO, I put some heat into the tires and it dam near did it on the street tho. I'm excited for when summer rolls back around and I can put some radials on it. I think 500 whp range is the perfect amount of hp on a street car.
Just my two cents.

Toyo Proxes T1 Sports. The JB4 and full Eisenmann goes on in about 2 weeks. I'll most likely pick up some lightweight 18's or 19's along with possibly dedicated track tires for NFZ type races in the future.

That's a good idea. My suggestion is 295 rear DRs or r888. I'm running 305 re-11s and traction is good right now. I will probably keep the 305 for aesthetics but definitely moving to something a little lighter and more sticky.

I think most people would be 100% fine with either a real performance tire like ad08r in stock sizes or a plus one 265/285 35 profile set of re11 on a wider wheel.

there is no reason to get insane here and go with a 325 drag radial. this isn't a zr1 guys.

r888 is IMO a bad idea if you are thinking of doing this for traction on the street. they are very slick unless they are hot, and are very bad in cold weather or wet weather.

extreme summers are the ideal fit for this car if used for some form of HPDE or racing

He specifically said for a dedicated set of track tires....

Also, if you have a JB4, stock sizes are not going to cut it unless they are DRs.

I mean, part of it will definitely be for aesthetics. But I'd like to be putting down around 600whp eventually. And you can never have TOO much overkill, haha.

I wouldn't call 325/30/19 PSC's "drag radials". And while, no, it isn't a ZR1, you may have (understandably) missed the part where I previously stated that I plan on putting down significantly more power than stock. Not talking 1,000whp or anything like that. But in the 600whp range, having as much grip as you can get is nice, haha.

I'm probably close to 550rwhp at this point and I don't see the 305 even in the RE-11s not beig able to handle it. At some point, the unsprung weight vs. sprung weight is not going to be worth it. If it's just aesthetics, then go for the huge tire. Though I'm going to stay with 305s (aesthetics) I am not even using the boost reduction feature of the JB4 because I am getting good traction in second. First is still a little pain in the ass.

I'm mostly just looking for grip for days, ha. From a dig, first roll, etc. I just don't want to have to be feathering the throttle.

No, d. I haven't tried 6 yet. I might if I do this dyno on Sunday. With map 7 and te 109 mixed in, you can tell a difference once it's adapted after some pulls.
