Too bad they ruin things with over-styled bits, e.g., rear "diffuser." And why are the kidneys joined together?

It's a mixed bag that only gets worse as you get to the rear, though it's already better than the G22... which is not that difficult to do

I kinda dig it at this angle. We'll see in person.

That's a good question. I'm not sure how Canada works exactly, but even if the driver is absolved of criminal liability he/she would almost certainly be sued civilly.

On the happier note of the Lotus. I want to know a bit more about the car but it looks genuinely a good competitor to the Cayman. V6, DCT or 6speed (and you can look at the 6speed gears!) interior is far better than the previous gen, looks like an exotic car AND it's apparently 20k+ cheaper? Why the heck not lol. Not to mention it's still has a hydraulic steering rack.

It's the other way round in Europe. Daily appliances are manual, upscale/sports cars are bought with automatics nowadays. Even auto rental cars carry a premium.

Last time I checked, less than 10% M2 CS with 6MT in Germany. You're getting the Mk8 Golf R with 6MT, as the only continent in the world.

That lotus looks real interesting. I'm interested to see the size for bigger guys. While I adore a lotus, I simply cannot fit in one with any level of comfort that makes sense to own. The cayman is just a bit too small to me as well, so if this is a bit bigger cockpit than the cayman, man is it a great contender for sports cars for tall/big guys. The two times in my life I wish I was smaller are (1) sports cars, and (2) fighter jets. So while yeah, I like being tall, short guys get all the high speed fun lol.

Yeah, I just don't understand this.

A decade ago we spent money on getting those lower black pieces color matched. Off we go again.

BMWs already sit kinda high, the lower black pieces makes the illusion even worse.

very poor design choice considering they will get blasted by road debris and look like crap within a few months

SUV turned down a one-way going the wrong way (allegedly under the influence), hit the McLaren (on dealer plates no less), lost control and hit a father carrying his baby.

See my other post, SUV driver driving in the wrong direction on a one way hit the McLaren then lost control and hit the dad & baby. McLaren driver did nothing except be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The new 2 series has two really annoying design attributes. One is the entire 2010 Suzuki rear end and the second are the triangles up front. The side proportions seem off, the front is so so and the mirror caps are don't belong but those are minor compared to the 2 main complaints.

I don't see it as design inconsistency at all. I see lots of consistency among the product line. I also see a lot of differentiation, which is welcomed and has been requested as far back as the early 2000's, when BMW was heavily criticized for all of the cars looking the same. Considering we've been seeing leaked images of the 2 for about a year (…or maybe more), there's no reason to believe there's any correlation. The 2 was never going to have the same front end as the new i4/4/M3/4. The beaver face is selling well. If I'm being honest, it's selling so well that it's likely adding to what many here would describe as "smugness" on behalf of BMW. I know many here (…and in other areas of the interwebz) like to Picasso paint BMW's demise, but I'm not seeing it from my vantage point. These cars really have no problem moving, so on one hand it has alienated some, but on the other, it has brought many new buyers to the brand. I would wager that in five year's time - when we have a better tally on sales numbers - it will illustrate that BMW hit the mark despite how some of the vocal bunch feel.

I cannot wait till I can drive one of these things. The exhaust alone is just fantastic. It will literally be the ONLY V8 4-Door Manual Sedan on the market.
