Mode tips update - black chrome is fading

I have about 1K miles on the black chrome Mode Auto Concepts (Australia) tips and the black chrome finish on the inside of the tips is just about gone. Only washed with car wash soap (e.g. no chemicals or polishes). Outside finish is fine. A bit disappointed.

Thanks for the PSA. Was thinking of getting a black chrome set from them for my BSM. Hope the degradation stops there for you.

Yikes! Perhaps you should contact Mode Auto Concepts and see what they say.

I’ve had mine on for 7 months and around 2k miles. Still holding up fine.

Did the salt the roads after the ice storm?

No salt here in s. Texas. Garage queen that does not come outside unless it is top down weather.

…a bummer that you would need to but you could send them out for powder coating and the would be bulletproof

Mode Auto Concepts did reach out to me today and they offered to replace the tips at no cost if I shipped the tips back and they also offered me an upgrade to matte black ceramic tips with free shipping for a small fee.

I will just paint the inside of the tips with a glossy heat paint in order to avoid the cost of return shipping of my old tips to Australia.

Funny, I live in south texas too and saw some deterioration on the bottom of the same type of tips. M4 is a garage queen and has never seen bad rod conditions, especially during the ice storm.

Contacted them and upgraded to the ceramic tips. Maybe a bad batch, or humidity? Regardless, Mode Auto Concepts stood behind their product and were very easy to work with.

Glad you figured out a path. Can't be mad at that response from the vendor.

I've had mine ~6 months and they're holding up fine for now.

Looks like the vendor offered a reasonable resolution, which is nice.

I had no issues with the MODE slanted black chrome tips, granted they were only on my vehicle for 4~ months / few thousand miles. They did start to develop a rainbow effect though but not enough to warrant concern imo. Here's how they looked when I took them off (my only decent phone pic, bcus my camera sucks with black ) Nonetheless, they were awesome and id recommend them to anyone wanting a more aggressive look. Just wanted to give my 2c to potiential buyers!
