Verify JB4 is working
Hi all,
I just installed JB4 in stage 1 mode (just connecting the 2 sensors, that's it). How can I verify it's working? I drove around for 2h with Torque Pro and WOT on multiple gears revving out I never got over 18.3 PSI. |

If you connect MAP and TMAP only, it should run as a stage 1 JB

So, I think I got it sorted. I got the USB cable, connected it, and it said Map 0. First thing I did was upload the newest firmware, then verifying that I could switch between map 0 and 1. I left it at map 1.
When I tried datalogging it didn't log anything, I assume you need an OBD cable for that. My JB4 has no OBD connections. By the way, the official USB cable shipped has a too big case for the serial port - it won't fit the case. So you have to remove it. Pictures here: View post on imgur.com There is a huge difference in second gear. I tried some 35-100mph runs in 3rd gear a couple of times to see what boost I would see via Torque. The max I saw was 18.4, which is a bit higher than 16.8 before. Edit, ah, the OBD2 connections are probably the wires that I stowed away. 2 of them, loose from the JB4 harness. Here's a quick run. Max boost seen is 23.8. I can't find a grommet in the firewall on this 6MT F80 to run the cable through. Just the hood mechanism and brake hose (and electronics), so I did the test with the cables outside the car.

I wonder if the boost is read from the cars sensor then just the integer 4 added? Or is it actually measured (verified) boost pressure? |
