There it goes the exclusive/re-sale value of the GTS LOL just kidding. While there's a few differences between the GTS and this Championship model, I like this better than the GTS look better, but of course I don't demographically (financially) fit this type of car LOL

Who am I to judge but I'm not digging those canards and sideskirts.

Wish I could see those black 666 wheels in person.

Also find it very interesting as mkoesel noted that they share the GTS motor - takes away from the exclusivity a little for current GTS owners.

I'd take a GTS over this. But, as always, cars are a very personal/emotional thing, so we'll either like it or dislike it.

I much prefer the front end of the GTS, the wing of the GTS, and the overall intent of the GTS.

Pretty sure they would of came out with 200 of these win or lose. But Iam wondering what they would of called it if Marco Wittman didn't win the championship. The driver standing was very close and it was no guarantee going into the last race.

Indeed. Very curious what they would've done (if anything?). It's not like they had to do this run of 200. The parts weren't being "wasted" and they had other unannounced cars in the pipeline that could/would use them.

Generally a nice looking ride with great performance (quicker and with a top speed - 189+ mph). Curious about "adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam (glare-free high beam assistant)". Are these code words for Euro lighting coding that the Europeans enjoy and that we Americans covet?

Not really in-between IMO, more of a GTS equivalent. This DTM Champion edition is almost identical to the GTS in specs.

From the features list, it states that the front is 265/35/19 and the rear is 285/30/20. Is that just a typo? I doubt BMW will make the style 666 in both 19 & 20"

No typo. Those are the same specs as the GTS.

This is some serious weird marketing / model hierarchy. It vaguely resembles the 911 GT3 RS and 911 R, but somehow this doesn't work but Porsche's strategy did...

One attractive part of buying the Porsche is that Porsche tries to protect the value of its GT models whereas BMW just seems to throw random models out there (30 jahre, GTS, Mark Whitman, Comp pack, CS/CSL) and see what happens to the value.

I would imagine this will be more $$$ than the GTS due to only 200 units, although not sure if it is US bound or not. More exclusive/valuable long-term is yet to early to tell. I wonder how they will rate the CS/CSL if or when it comes out.

Your comparison doesn't work for the following:

991 base = regular m3/4
991 S = comp pack m3/4
991 GTS = M3/4 CS (maybe)
991 50th anniversary = 30th Jahre M3
991 GT3 = M4 GTS

But I do agree on that this champion edition doesn't really make sense, and is kind of like pointing the "middle finger" and saying we only care about the $$$ at M4 GTS owners

The Euro List price is it. The current currency conversion rate in any market is the local price. The 200 Cars are first come first serve and orders can be confirmed as I type this. There are enough collectors around the globe that will have these all spoken for quite within a day or two.

Although I sort of agree with the analogies pointed out, I was merely representing the strategy Porsche took between the 911 GT3 Rs and 911R, neither of which are pointed out in the above by the way. Porsche knew they needed to differentiate them in a way so the RS does not lose value and is different from a driving PoV; however, BMW has not really differentiated the Mark Whitman and GTS all that much which is strange to me. The part about the amount of different M4 models was merely for the M4 and not the 4 series, so comparing the basic 911 versions are not that relevant.

But yes, middle finger to GTS owners from BMW. The engine is special but now in a 'different model' with the same basic setup.
