The part about the amount of different M4 models was merely for the M4 and not the 4 series, so comparing the basic 911 versions are not that relevant.

But yes, middle finger to GTS owners from BMW. The engine is special but now in a 'different model' with the same basic setup.
I would be ok if they used that water injection thing in like a M3 CRT/CSL whatever or next generation cars. But to do it on another M4 is just greed.

Not necessarily true. Prices are adjusted for local markets.

For instance, the GTS was listed at 142,600EUR in Germany while it is listed at 153,000CAD in Canada (116,500EUR).

I have a feeling we will be seeing this 500hp version of the S55 in more M4 variants .

BTW, I don't think it "de-values" the GTS. For instance, this DTM editions has an MSRP in the same bracket as the GTS

I totally agree. It will most likely be without the GTS aero parts and rollcage and interior and not in limited numbers. All of which would set it apart from the M4 GTS. But this champion edition is just too much of a GTS and there is not much differences except for the aero parts.

It just feels like there are now 700 M4 GTS + 200 M4 GTS "champion edition". Not too worried about the resale price of the M4 GTS, but it feels just a little less "exclusive" now. If you know what I mean. Like another member said, these 2 models are too "similar"

As someone in the market for a special M car I am confused but this one. Give me a no aero M2/M3/M4 CSL already and take my money BMW! (I will also gladly take an M2 GTS or M3 CRT.)

Limited M5s, M4s, soon probably M2s too. I remember a web article criticizing Porsche's marketing ploy with Turbo S. Turbo used to be top of the line, but to squeeze out more profit, Porsche came out the "S" version, so now people who drives the Turbo, instead of driving a top end Porsche, just became the people who can't afford Turbo S.

It's ok to make a small run of limited cars, but when you start to make too many of them out of production cars, the limited now becomes the new standard car, and basically is segregating people into those who can afford the "real" M4 and those who can't.

looks cool and all, but they're really milking these cars out like ford does with their mustang (or at least, used to do).

Waiting for the M4 California Edition.

I'm not arguing marketing, aesthetics or cost..rather stating the obvious, there seems to be a new limited M car every few weeks in the last six months; or, maybe it's my luck reading the news here.

As for the run of the mill M car comment and segregating cost segments vs affordability to the masses, I don't know....

No clue what this is going to cost at dealer lots, but the M4 gts may as well not be for sale at all. For what dealers are trying to unload them for, you are well in the Lamborghini category, and that's no three aghem four series.

The differences are the following for this car:

- uses the M Performance front lip and rear wing.
- got carbon fiber canards.
- looks like carbon fiber pieces taped on the side skirts
- have special decals.
- doesn't have acid orange accent.
- wheels painted dark grey
- roll bar painted white

so pretty much a M4 GTS clone. So I call it the M4 GTS Champion Edition.

It's also slightly more expensive and even more limited, GTS is now inferior, DTM edition is the new king until the next limited edition shows up.

A less cheap way of announcing a production extension of a "limited" model.

Well...they can take credit for finally finding a color for 666 that works.

I like this one better than the GTS. Especially those black wheels and the absence of the snow plower are on point!

Nice...stickers? It's ok, best part for me is the seats. I agree with earlier post full redbull decals would be better and more race-ish.

Yeah, BMW probably was surprised by the number of people who are willing to pay at least double for a souped up M4 (frankly so was I, look at those crazy markups), so why stop at 700?
