Holy hell these cars love cold weather

I've had miraculously dry weather this week in Portland, and i've taken the F80 out a couple of times – after learning my lesson about sub-40° and MPSS tires not being a good combo.

It is shocking to me how this car responds to cold air. It feels like somebody tuned it. I swear the turbos spool faster and power is up.

Now i completely understand why people do the water / meth injection kits. Getting this kind of cold & dense air in the summertime would be infectious as hell.

(Also, i'm running fully enclosed AFE intakes, so it's not like the car was sucking in engine bay hot air in the summer)

I mean it's sorta tuning itself. I believe the stock ecu will adjust boost pressure based on what it finds to be safe.

What temps ? Your MPSS putting down power in the cold ?

When it's like 40-50 F I do feel a power gain at high speeds but I can't really hook at reasonable speeds (obviously cause of summer tires, got another car for daily in the cold) so I never got to truly feel boost weather lol.

Yep the car does, the MPSS not so much.. lol.. I find my car squirming around a bit more for traction in these cooler temps.. Have to source some MP4S or equivalent..

Try taking a spin to Seattle in it (watch for camps of homeless, entire city blocks of lawlessness and the like) and you will really enjoy it. Sea level, always dense air and cold. Yes, boost weather is real and heat is the enemy!

It's amazing once we hit fall. I have cone intakes (yes, not for performance, but for sound), and the sweet noises in makes in the 40-50s is music to my ears.

Ohh yeah... I can’t help but run over a protester or two or maybe homeless dude, every time I give it the beans here in this cold dense air of Seattle.

But yeah..The HP bump is always noticeable in the cooler months.
