Dashcam's that are actually Clear?

I have an LGD521 (I think) dash cam I just installed into my F82. I got into a conflict yesterday with someone who decided to park 3 inches from my drivers side door despite being parked in an isolated parking area.

I tried pulling footage so I could get a clear shot of his face, but even though he passed in front of the camera within 10ish feet I couldn't even make out his face. it was a pixelated mess.

How frustrating!

Which ones don't suck? Anyone have any experience?

I had thought the f800 was good. It's not. It's terrible, in particular the rear.
The only thing I hated about thinkware was their atrocious iOS app.

I have a blackvue on my car since 2015. Video is good, especially at night compared to most others I've seen. The rear channel died on me maybe 2 years ago outside of warranty and it tells me to reformat my Se card every few months. I've been meaning to replace the card to see if it helps. My brother had the same model as me and had to warranty his, his screen was miscalibrated to the point where it was unusable.

Overall seems like the video quality is great but the hardware leaves room for improvement..

Do you format the card outside of those times? I've been sticking to a monthly schedule of reformatting it based on advice I've read. After too long any card will eventually fill up with files that were locked because of potholes, hard acceleration/braking, etc and formatting it frees up that space again. That said, I'm a couple of years in with a Samsung Pro Endurance card with no problems. The original BlackVue ones are okay but not great for reliability.

My experience is with a Thinkware, but I can't imagine Blackvue being any different. On mine, you set percentages for each event type. Say 50% for general recording, 40% for driving events, 40% for parking events, 10% for other. Once it hits those percentages it would automatically start deleting the older events to free up space.

The format warning is just a maintenance reminder. On some dashcams you can change the frequency. It's not an indication that there is anything wrong with the dashcam or the card.

First I heard of that, kinda makes sense. I don't do it outside of those times. I do have the sensitivity adjusted otherwise the rough roads and the lowered car would set it off pretty often.
