Why is there a 36 and 39 month lease?

People do sure, but you're just letting the dealer make more profit off you. So unless you get them to discount the car but the amount you'd end up paying extra (thus having the same payment as base MF) you should never let them mark it up.

The 39 month lease option is only available around the end of the year. For BMW, it's so leases that begin in the winter terminate in the spring (when people are much more likely to grab an M car). For us it also means a bump in residual which equates to lower payments.

I noticed the residual values changed to 56% - is that normal for this time of year? Guessing they just fluctuate, but dealers can't change the residuals at all, those are set correct? As opposed to money factor which is varying depending on the person/dealer you're working with.

Correct. BMWFS sets the residual. MF is also set but the dealer can mark up a maximum of 0.0004

I'm new to leasing quick question regarding MSD's. What happens to the MSD's after lease if you end up buying the car (finance the residual) at lease end or before lease is up.

Thanks in advance

Still undecided between leasing or purchasing. Completing paperwork this weekend. Gonna be keeping the car for several years and doing mods

You either get your money back or you could apply it to the purchase price.

It depends on your mods. Many mods are easily returned to stock, but if you plan on any permanent changes you will have issues with leasing. Also if you really think you're going to keep the car longer than 3 years, you should buy it.

Could have been covered, but could we update the original post with information regarding maintenance during lease transfers?

Looks like BMW will not transfer free maintenance to the new lessees. This may be some valuable information for people trying to lease transfer. (especially those who see a $700/mo payment and think they can stretch to make ends meet)

"For model year 2015 or later vehicles sold or leased by an authorized BMW center on or after July 1, 2014, BMW Maintenance Program coverage is provided for the exclusive benefit of the initial purchaser, owner, or lessee of a new vehicle, sales demonstrator vehicle, Aftersales Mobility Program (AMP) vehicle, or BMW Group company vehicle from an authorized BMW center in the United States (including Puerto Rico). Accordingly, BMW Maintenance Program coverage, with one exception, is not transferable to subsequent purchasers, owners, or lessees."

Added a notation under the lease transfer section.

Too many variables to say. really what you want is the base MF and the lowest dealer fees. Then you negotiate the best price on the car. I recommend you visit the check your deals thread for the most current prices people are getting.

Just to give you an idea.

Base M3, not 1 option, MSRP 63,200. Sale price, 58700 (7%)

Monthly - 672 (7% tax included)
Down - 2000 (Includes all fee)

This includes the $1500 holiday cash which I'm not sure if that works for the m3. If it doesn't, payments would be about 720.

Lease rates arent the best right now for an m3. Last year around March I got my 70,000 M3 for around 700 a month with the same down.

Has this gone up? I just tried to buy miles at BMW USA and it worked out to $0.18/mile +tax (I have a 428i).

It may have gone up. I am getting the same numbers. If I get a chance I will call and confirm this with a representative. It also looks like they may have changed the policy of when you can buy the miles (4 months from lease end), but that may just apply to doing it online.

No it's not. ED down to five percent from 7 and now miles may be down to ten percent from twenty.
BMW is squeezing the margins.

I know we are in the M3/M4 area but any thoughts on MF or Residuals for the M2? I know we are a ways away from getting real numbers, I am on the waiting list. It would be nice to know the numbers before I order but if the lease terms don't make sense I will just buy. I am guessing the residuals will be conservatively estimated because it is a new model so they don't have a resale value history. Any educated guesses or perhaps inside info??

I have no inside info. In fact I doubt anyone will know until the numbers are released. I wouldn't worry about it though. Sounds like if the numbers are bad, you will just buy. Won't hurt you much.
