M Performance Exhaust vs Stock daily driver

Hi, have an order in, but wondering if I should splurge and add the M Perf exhaust. Can someone who has had both, tell me what noise level I should expect under normal daily driving conditions? I will be commuting this daily and the wife is not going to like the exhaust if it's consistently loud through a normal drive on the freeways. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have it and its great, not loud, no drone or annoying at all in any mode. In comfort you barely notice its there but when you are in sport+ it really opens up. With the valves you can control how loud or loud it isn't (stock or aftermarket controller).

Two complaints, 1 some of them crack and 2 how loud it is at cold start. I would splurge for it if I were you.

Night and day difference to my ears. I had the stock exhaust for a while before switching. The M Performance Exhaust transformed my experience. The one thing that is embarrassing is the cold start. It is loud and I wouldn't label it as sounding good by any means. But once it warms up, I love it. I suggest buying something like the BMS Can Flap to control the valves on the exhaust especially if your wife doesn't want the car to be loud. With that device, you can easily leave them wide open when driving alone and flip it back to OEM when she is with you. I would be surprised if she found it too loud in OEM mode.

Sounds like comfort mode should be relatively quiet like stock with no drone? That sounds good me. I'd like it to have "that" sound when I punch it, but not every day. Thanks for the input guys.

It's not the volume as much as it is the sound itself. Think of stock as loud volume on cheap $10 headphones vs. the MPE as moderate volume on a pair of smooth, new Bose ones. The pops. The burbles. The deep growl. It's night and day compared to stock.

If you want it loud, just keep the valves forced open. If you want moderation, keep them plugged and Sport/Comfort will sound "refined" but it'll sound ferocious in Sport+

This was inspiring, and now I want to pull the trigger, esp since my dealer has offered me 25%+ on all the parts he has for the M4 in stock and the MPE is one of them. Just not sure if its going to be the Remus or the MPE.

Ok don't no if this is a stupid question or not but seen in threads about having the flaps open or not.
I just presumed in comfort they were closed and in sport and sport+ they were open.
Am I wrong thinking that?

No you are not wrong, comfort they are closed. I don't think anyone will tell you not to get an MPE, it just sucks the problems associated with them for what you pay for them.

That's a great price for the MPE (and anything else for that matter)! That's what I paid.

Ok, ok, ok...so the question that comes to my mind is...

Is comfort mode with or without MPE equal dB? (i know this is non scientifically measured, but best guesstimate from a subjective point of view)

And how does the titanium tips look against the M Performance diffuser (I've only been able to find pics of the carbon tips with other diffusers).

Thanks!

With MPE its probably a couple DB louder than stock in confort mode, it isn't night and day differnce when you are cruising around with the valves closed. You would be hard pressed to find someone disappointed with the sound, price and cracks yes but not the sound.

Looks money...I have titanium tips and M diffuser.

I would definitely recommend MPE night and day difference over stock
