My 2015 f82 was faster than 2018 f80, so why not if it’s maintained well.

i'm considering a CPO '17 M4 convertible with only 25K miles; only 6 months left on CPO warranty, but i would definitely buy an extended warranty. anyone know (1) how much a good, solid extended warranty would cost for this kinda vehicle and (2) can you get tire/rim insurance for a CPO/used vehicle and how much would it cost for the M4?

First I decided to go for 435i and tune it - I would be comfortable with my budget but there is an itch if I’ll stretch my budget a little I can get m4. There are some offers with cpo, ~2015 with 60-70k miles, some has still waranty for next 6 months. How higher are runing costs for m4 than 435i? What major services should be done with this milage. I know it’s performance car and it is expensive but I’m scared that after few months I will have to put 10k for a big repair. I’m doing about 1k miles per month and plan to keep new car for 5 years.
I was in the same situation as you. I've owned many bmws already, two 335i's (e93/x-drive e90) and an X5 and after I sold my last bmw (e90) I got a 2018 Camry which lasted me 3 years and then I passed it onto my wife and purchased a 2015 M4. I was originally looking for a 340I vert x-drive model but since every bmw was overpriced I was put backed into a corner (30k+). I've been through the whole lifespan of bmw already and experienced their extreme value drops and because of that I wasnt going to pay more than KBB for a car that will loose its value just as fast in the next 3-4 years.

Back when i bought my first bmw e93 I paid 32k for it. I could have bought an M3 with slightly higher mileage (10k more) and paid $35k at the time. 6 Years later that same M3's value was 20-25k and my e93 was worth 10k. I actually sold it 2 years ago for 10k and was happy to move onto something else. Right now that same e93 could have probably gotten me more than i got 2 years ago which is the problem with today’s market. The lower priced cars have gone up in price because of the demand for used cars since most people don’t buy or lease new anymore its created a market which car values actually reversed (for the first time that ive never seen).

So once I valued in everything I figured that I would be better off buying a 40k M4 than a 25k 340i and have it retain its value more than the 340i would have, plus in its stock form its already at 400hp which is plenty for me. I do plan to upgrade the tune to the lowest tune when my CBC gets installed to reach 500hp and call it a day. I dont want to invest in mods this time since I also lost big on that on my last 335i.

If your on the fence and can stretch your budget get the M3/M4 and wait for the perfect car to pop up. The market is scarce but good deals do come, I kept an alert up with many car sites and one popped up locally with every feature i wanted and priced perfectly so i snatched it up, no dealer negotiation or anything because it was already the best deal ive seen in a month and I figured that trying to negotiate would give someone else the chance to buy it. Turns out that I was lucky because i put a 5k deposit down on it the night it was posted, then the next day they had many people call, and even drive down 200+ miles to see it but it was considered held since they had my 5k already. The next day i drove down and grabbed it and couldnt be happier with my decision. This is my first M car and now i feel spoiled, I dont know how i'll ever want to go back to a basic bmw again, LOL.

I was on them all. Cargurus, cars.com, autotrader, ebay, carmax, carvana ect... Its all about waiting for the right car at the right price. Carmax tends to have some decent deals and you can buy their carmax warranty which ive used in the past and loved. Since I was being picky on the color, features and being a vert I had to open my options up to everwhere in the usa. I considered shipping a few cars, but I never pulled the trigger as i just hoped one would show up locally and I got lucky that waiting paid off.

Funny thing is that I actually saw a good deal on a carmax car and posted it for someone in this thread. No idea if he got it, but the barley lasted 24h on the site so its best to check their website 3-4 times a day considering how fast these are selling. The forums and used M3 (private sellers) seem to be way over priced just like the rest of the market, but many dealers still sell for below bluebook for that quick profit and you can get a lower interest at a dealer so that gives you some headroom on the price since a lower interest can make a 42k car cost the same as a 38k private party car. My best advice is to look at all the sites multiple times a day.

I don't see an issue for saying no other than the fact modding m4 is way more expensive than modding 435i. also how did your dealer certify 2015? I remember if the car's warranty expires they can't CPO it and 2015 should have a 4 year warranty?

This is true, same with maintenance. Now if your someone like me where you want a max of 500hp this car does it with a simple tune and no mods, but I do plan to at least get downpipes for the sound lol. To get a 340i to 500 you’d have to upgrade turbos, tune, fuel pump and more adding 3-5k to those total do if your trying to decide between a 30k 340i vs a 40k m4 your not spending much more to get the car that’s 100x better. Maintenance is cheap if you do it yourself so if you buy an out of warranty car then your good.

As for cpo’s I can’t help with that as I’m not sure how that works exactly, but carmax and other dealer sell aftermarket ones that you can buy.

Krishenzo your pm’s are blocked, can’t reply.

Buy the M4. The F82 has evolved into one of the most reliable M cars produced. I have 72K with all services completed and some preventative fluid changes. The only failed part was an in tank fuel pump at 42K covered under warranty. If you tune, you'll have to address crank hub vulnerability; otherwise, it's proving pretty bullet proof.

Tire & Wheel Insurance cost same as a set of new rims.. I would search the forums as people are selling their rims..

Extended warranty's vary from with Party you purchase from and length of coverage..

If you maintain the car, the car is pretty solid.. I have a 2018 F83 and @ 12k miles now and I will not be purchasing an extended warranty since I plan to modify the car later (Warranty will be voided for modification by dealer or coverage provider )

Just enjoy the car..

Rear Diff fluid, brake fluid, oil, spark plugs, brakes

That's basically it right? Dealer tried selling me on some DIJ cleaning idk if that was just a scam

I got 40k rn probably going to keep it until 70-80k miles and just do those. DCT fluid is lifetime supposedly (questionable), I'm stock and don't track so I'll probably not touch it

I have a 2015 F80 and have about 59k on it. Just recently had to replace leaking rear diff seal (pass side) and the valve cover gasket which is apparently pretty common. Had these services done at BMW dealer so i prob paid more than i should but a good piece of mind.

I am at a similar cross road as Im uncertain if I should move on from the car, or keep it. Have BM3 with CS tune currently on it , so in essence I have modded more than what BMW already does with the S55 engine.

At what point does it make sense to move on versus keeping it longer term.

Wait and buy an M4. I bought mine (2016) used non-CPO and have put 28k miles on it. No issues. Low running cost. They're incredibly robust and reliable cars.
