Yes, I compare, because F80 M3 has not released yet, or there dont have sound check on indoor conditions, but you see the point. If manufacturer want made car sound like beast on stock it is possible also when using (N55) I6 layout, just think that S55 revs almost thousand revs higher, its huge jump when compare engine sounds.

The Ghibli will likely have shoddy fit and finish, be useless in colder climates and need a punch card at the service department with new electrical gremlins and pieces falling apart faster than you can get home from a visit BUT it will sound absolutely fantastic, with a raw, racy tune that will catch your attention and make you smile. Do I want the new M3 to sound like a Maserati? Yes, please. Do I want a Maserati? No thanks.
The N54 and N55 has this nice muted growl signaling effortless power with a my bite is much worse than my bark persona. The F80 however seems loud in the wrong way, it sounds like a loose blaaaarp like a tuner fart can. It doesn't seem to have that raw, racy high pitch like the Ghibli seems to have. Maybe the sound of the F80 is just part of the camo. And yes it's from a camcorder from a distance but when the E90 M3 was in the same footage it sounded great as usual. Confirmation would be perfect. Sure, something definitive and concrete. Hell, just release the product.

Great video and thanks for posting. It does seem to sound a little different, but it is really tough to tell. I don't know if I can tell a difference. The X5M sounds good!

1. Both F80 and F82 have I6 2. Both F80 and F82 have V6 3. F82 does not have production engine, but tests another engine (N58?) in F82 chassis. |

I spot that exhaust note is pretty same (2:20 and 2:28), but I hear intake noise on Coupe version, listen how it scream when drivers pull full gas. Sedan is quiet, before car passing off the camera and you hear exhaust note. Or is it just gear rations, Sedan is manual.

Sigh, unless the exhaust is camo'd it's going to take a while to get over the E90 for sure. That is not a good exhaust note, oh well the rest of the car will just have to make up for this loss, and I think it will

Those two cars in the vid probably have different exhaust and/or intake setups. It has to be the same engine. Also the F80 driver isn't redlining (probably staying in the powerband) as the F82 driver is.

I hear a difference, but I think its because the F80 is not running all the way to red-line.
Is it possible that they are testing power delivery in the upper mid range and then at red-line? I thought that, with turbo engines, the upper mid range performance would matter more than red-line performance. |

To me it just sounds like the engines are at different parts of the rev range, nothing more |
