"Scheiben-Wasser" is literally translated as pane water but of course it is windshield washer/cleaner.

Nice clean soapy water and a good scrub sponge for the tuff bugs...

One of our friend's girls is in the tourist industry and invited us to "her" town - Cologne. We headed down there a couple of days ago and stayed overnight to get a personal tour of this vibrant city.
As some on here have suggested, a trip to Cologne is not complete without a tour of the Dom. That is a great suggestion . Very ornate and absolutely massive! Of course we had to hike to the top - all 533 stufe (steps). Regardless of your religious affiliation or not, the interior is inspirational!

Views from the top of the Dom were great (the bridge in the photo has an interesting reputation)...

This train bridge located next to the Dom crossing the Rhine is known as the "love locks" bridge made famous by a local band. Let's just say there are more than a few locks and the bridge has been reinforced to handle the extra load.

I just love trains! The Haupt Bahnhof or main station for Cologne is located directly next to the Dom....

One of the lesser pleasures of staying in the larger European cities is the parking situation. Many have posted their experiences; mine was no different....

The only way to hedge your bets from a door ding is to get as close as possible to a support beam in a perimeter parking space!!

Yeah, I have a keeper or more accurately, I am lucky she puts up with my SH*T!!!
Nearly 2300 miles on the clock so far. With the threat of thunder storms last night our friends insisted that we tuck our BMW (or as the locals call it: "Bay-Em-Vay") in their protected parking space...

Winding things down now. What a wonderful experience! I recommend it to anyone with even an inkling of an adventurous spirit. Reconnecting with my disbursed family and getting a jewel of a souvenir to boot was tremendous! Again, I thank all of the folks that have taken the time to chronicle their EDs and those that answered my many questions.
This p.m. I dropped off the car at the Frankfurt transfer station with a bit of drama leading up to it. I gave myself two extra hours of cushion for eventualities as I was traveling from Dortmund area to Frankfurt to drop the car off. I needed every last minute to get the car washed (I vacuumed it the night before) and dropped off at the transfer facility. The traffic from Dortmund to Frankfurt (non rush hour) was absurd with no obvious reasons and the traffic in and around the airport was equally insane!!! The folks at the drop-off facility were great! We put 3,888 Kms/2,430 miles when all was said and done. I can safely say that I enjoyed each and every one of them!

The boys had already driven the M by this time, but were just as anxious to test the capabilities of a circa 1975 John Deere. Here "Opa" gives last minute instructions to my youngest with the oldest waiting for his turn....
