MPE Installation
I'm new to world of exhaust and installation, etc.
I saw that someone was selling a MPE muffler only with a crack in it. If you were to install a MPE muffler only would you still get all the claimed weights benefits? Would the sound be that much different? Power difference with only the muffler? Or would I need to also install the new piping (downpipe? midpipe? I don't know what the difference is between those two pipes.) that comes with the complete MPE kit to get the horsepower and weight benefits?

I'm pretty sure you can't install the "muffler only" without custom piping. It will not bolt to stock mid pipe no matter where you cut it.
You need at least part of the rear MPE mid pipe to connect to the muffler. Someone tried with muffler only and posted pics.

Correct. Only way would be to cut the flared flanges on the muffler end and then connect to a custom pipe with clamps. Not easy but doable.
You can probably forget about resale at that point unless you sell as a kit. I went to three muffler shops before I just bit the bullet and got the connecting pipes and hardware. YMMV |
