That's pretty simple: B37 and B47 are going to show up in pretty much every model over 2014 - early 2015. It may start with a 1er or a 2er, then expand to 3, 4, and 5. B57 will be introduced later, likely in the G11/G12 730d/740d.

The model designation will be like this:

x14d - B37D15K0
x16d - B37D15U0
x18d - B47D20U0
x20d - B47D20O0
x30d - B57D30O0
x40d - B57D30T0

i8 torque range and output per cylinder

~106,6 Nm and ~56,6 kW

if so B58 can have up to 340 kW and not 300 kW as shown in the brochure

Keep in mind that i8 will have the B38 in its highest output version, B38B15T0. No other cars are currently planned to have it. Moreover, no B-series gas engines in T0 version, other than the one for i8, are listed. The B58 that will be used in x35i/x40i, is the M0.

Thanks for all of this great info!

So is there any chance at this point for the B58 to debut in some model sometime this year?
Or is still scheduled for the F30 LCI?

It does seem to be planned for F30 LCI before anything else, since the only other model at the moment is the next 7 series.

Any ideas if the new X5 3.5 will make a mid model engine switch from the N55 over to the B58 after it debuts in the LCI F30? Bmw did this on the E9X chassis cars when they switch over from the N54 to the N55 mid model year.

Too early to tell. I have visibility up to about 2 years before production, this change if it happens won't be so soon.

So the first of the B engines has now officially debuted in a BMW: the X3 LCI gets the B47 in germany at least.

It's likely M235i will continue with N55 even when most other 35i will have B58, just like today's 35is models still use N54.

10hp and 15 torques extra. Not much, but useful. We won't get that engine any time soon though.

Probably not. It'll be introduced in G11 or F30LCI, and I think both of these are planned for 2015.

@ynguldyn
I am interested in euro info on the B38.
Today F20 118 has the 1.6 turbo 170 PS in europe.
Will the LCI F20 118i have the 3-cyl, and if so with how many PS?
Same engine in a possible 218 Coupe?
Whats the highest powered 3-cyl petrol that you can see in the forthcoming F20 LCi and the F30 LCI?

Also do you have info if there will be any model in europe between the 220i and the M235i, perhaps a B48 225i?

Right now, B38 is only listed in x14i and x16i. The likely entries for LCI 118i still list the N13 engine.

I expect to get an update within the next couple of weeks. It's possible there will be relevant additions. I'll come back to this thread if there's anything to report.

Europe is getting a 225i and a 228i(F22). Both are powered by an N20 engine.

Added X4 m40i.

This is the only new model or engine since December.
