Review : SSR Performance Dual cone mesh intakes
Hello all.
First off, I would like to give a big shout out to Zayn & Shah at SSR Performance for providing not only the best customer service BUT an excellent product. No, SSR Performance is not paying me for what I'm about to say. This is my honest opinion on the SSR Performance dual cone aluminum mesh intakes on my BMW M4. Fitment : 10/10. Not only was this product beautiful to look at but the fitment was spot on. The welds on the piping and the mesh on the intake filter were flawless. Fitment was straight forward, easy and fit like a glove. Performance : 9.5/10. Now, I can't give this a 10/10 just because I've had the intakes on for less than a day. The trusty butt dyno doesn't feel anymore power than what the M4 comes stock however the the initial throttle bite does seem stronger and the car does pull harder in higher RPMs. Sound : The sound.... The turbo spool is more pronounced, similar to a Supra...The woosh on deceleration is intoxicating. The exhaust seemed to have gotten a tad bit louder & the "fart" noise is also more pronounced. A++++ for sound. Overall : Overall, this product gets an A+ in all the right places. Fitment, quality, performance & sound, all present. SSR Performance not only got it right with quality parts but customer service is exceptional. Zayn went out of his way to make sure my product arrived on time. Shah installed the intake to make sure fitment was on point and that I was satisfied. I will definitely be ordering SSR Performance chargepipes and downpipe down the line. I highly encourage anybody looking for an intake to pull the trigger on this bad boy. You won't be disappointed...I will have a video up on the sound so stay tuned! -Hillstrand (Sound Clip) http://vid1377.photobucket.com/album...psoaorrzih.mp4 Last edited by YangEnterprise; 10-12-2016 at 07:29 PM.. |

Hillstrand when you say, "The exhaust seemed to have gotten a tad bit louder & the "fart" noise is also more pronounced. A++++ for sound," what exhaust are you using? Stock exhaust or something else? Thanks!

On the e90 the dual cone intakes had the outside air coming directly into the engine bay rather than the enclosed factory filter box, which ended up with the engine bay getting really dirty.
Is the DCI for F80 different that everything is somehow enclosed? SSR website says "Our contained design keeps the intake filters inside the engine bay where they are safe from unfavorable external elements like dust and water" |

With that said, you shouldn't have issues of the engine bay getting more dirty than usual. A wipe down here and there wouldn't hurt, but overall you shouldn't have have any issues. Let me know if you have any other questions at all! Thanks! |

Thank you everyone for the kind words on the color .
My car is 100% stock besides the intake. I removed the charcoal filters and disconnected the e-valve on the exhaust so the flaps remain open at all times. But yes, stock exhaust...for now . |

Is there any video of the intake in action? Interior and exterior if possible.
I'm afraid of having something too obnoxious interior wise.
