that is like saying before air bags came out, had you driven a non airbag car for years, they'd also be pointless. or antilock brakes for that matter. i'd have to say something pointless (not sure they are tacky as they do look cool, though they don't really serve a purpose other than looks) would be things like the fake vent on the side of the M. at least the LED daytime lights do something. |

i am fairly steadfast in what i call unattractive . it stays that way. i mean the e60 5 series was ugly. it was out for what 7 years. i still think its ugly. maybe it looks less bad in M form. same with that saggy door line on the 1 series. itll never look great, its just ok i can live with it because this car drives awesome. the e90 pre-LCI looked well kind of boring, but the new F30 i think looks a little better especially in m-sport (i might have to get one ...) . i just remember when the 2006 e90s came out, the taillights looked so conservative and not bmw like without the L shape. |

Comparing LED running lights to airbags or ABS brakes is an embarrassing comparison, especially for someone bandying around the word "stupid". When it's dark cars have things called headlights, and on all of my recent cars they've been auto-on. There have also been regular running lights for about 30 years, just because Audi began a trend of LED striplights does not mean they are to everyone's tastes or that they are in anyway a safer option than the daytime markers on Toyotas etc. |

So is it confirmed that BMW is calling the coupe a 4 series? Doesn't that kill the heritage of the M3 (the essence of M badge)? M4 doesn't sound like M3 at all!

And LED lights aren't pointless. They have a safety value (e.g., here and here) in providing better illumination thus visibility, and they turn on faster allowing for better reaction time with brake lights. They're also more eco-friendly by being more energy efficient (less fuel and less CO2)... etc. Individually, these improvements aren't that much, but in aggregate it does make a difference and every little bit counts. And I don't know how the new 3-Series (the F80 in particular if true) is going backwords by not using them. |

My opinion is huge strips of LED running lights is pointless, it was always presented as my opinion by using the words "for me". Understand? You seem to really like taking the opposing view to my posts. If you're going to try and do so I wouldn't use a shop that sells LED lights as one of your sources or present sentences like your last (which is both contradictory and includes words I don't think you meant to use). Or you could just move on Last edited by Carl L; 09-06-2012 at 10:51 PM.. Reason: smiley face added so people maintain perspective! |

Good rendering but I'm not sold on the stylings. Love the e46 and my e92.. maybe it will grow on me over time. Feel like it doesn't have the agressiveness and flow of its predecessors though.

I have faith in the M division. I feel (though I have never been close to one) that the 1M with its engine and suspension is a fantastic car. I love the high rev nature of the M3, but I also love torque. I have already put a deposit down on the M4 and I have no problem doing it without knowing all of the specifics. I haven't seen an M3 that sucks and I don't think this will be the first one either.
