Chao Anh

It has something to do with not wanting to step over the M5's toes

M3 can't be more power than M5...

we surely dont want that to happen, or at least they dont want it to happen.

And plus 6 cyl to claim fuel economy... Corvette doesn't care about fuel eco... and it would be blasphemy for the Corvette to get anything less than the V8.

Number one on BMW's list now is "efficient dynamics". This is what they are selling. Reason why we are getting a turbo 6-cylinder.

The funniest thing about them advertising "efficient dynamics" is the commercial with the GTS, M5, and 1M. They try to use these cars to advertise "efficient dynamics".

But the M3 GTS is a gas eating machine, the new M5 has a gas guzzler tax, and the 1M can't even be purchased anymore. Stupid commercial.

squeaky brakes -> testing brake pads? Pagid pads make a lot of noise for example.

It sounds okay, could be worse.

With that said - it looks fast. I think that's what matters most - no? Either way, it's coming along nicely. Surely the end product will sound better/different.

And as far as the redline goes - no way it can be more than 7k or so (based on this latest video). Maybe 7.2-7.3k if we're lucky.

There's no way to tell redline based on spyvideos. So I wouldn't be too quick to judge the new engine.

Best regards,

How do you figure?

In one of the videos it runs with an E92 at the same pace, and elsewhere to me it seemed like a very well composed chassis masking a pretty hefty weight.

Is there any more info on the M2?

Hefty weight?

By all accounts and info posted here so far the f80 m3 will be lighter than the current M3.

If you believe that I could introduce you to the Easter bunny...

Just like the F30 was declared to be lighter than the E90, yeah right. Will it matter one bit if it's 50 lbs lighter?

BMW you cannot give us a V8 then take it away in the next model.

If BMW engineers are targeting E46 M3 weight and end up just 50 pounds lighter they need to find another profession.

I doubt that they will meet that goal exactly but just the fact that BMW has stated something like this will likely mean significant weight loss, not just a few pounds.

What's with all the negative nancys around here?

I think I am going to for sure buy the E92 M3. I don't like the sound of this car one bit. I would really like to see what the exact specs are of this car and can't wait for the current M to face off with this M

Is that what the squeaking sound (under heavy braking) was? I was wondering why the brakes were squeaking so much... I hate that sound.

The definition of Corvette is pretty much V8. The M3 isn't a V8 car... It just happened to have one for a generation.
