Good for you. I think the M4 looks much better than the dated E92.

I was an E92 M3 owner but I think this car (well, renders anyway) are stunning. Makes the E9X look old IMO. I never lived the E90 M3 to start with (the rear looked like it had bug eyes) but this is amazing. Can't wait for it to be released.

Regarding the weight no one knows what its gonna be and rumors are just that.

I'd be shocked BMW gets the car lighter unless they make a special edition and charge more money. Thats all I see coming. $$$ is all that seems to be driving driving them these days.

Srsly, if you want a lighter car the 911 is the better car.

Secondly, the M4 will be lighter than the new M3.. (notice cf roof..?), which is lighter than the e9X M3. That is not hear-say, but fact!
I'm not disagreeing but what's the source for the M3/M4 weight being a "fact"? BMW has, in fact, gotten porkier every generation. I'm not debating that they may get lighter this time around but everything I have seen has been speculation.

You're talking about "porkier" cars yet you drive a car thats 4000lbs???
The M3 was\still is the best car in its class (depending on which reviews you watch), since 2008 and it took Audi building the Audi RS5 and Merc adding a performance package, to carry its massive weight, to compete with the M3..

I think the M4 will be better than the current M3 gen. and I believe the 1M is a testament of where BMW and ///M want to go with their small coupe cars...

Guys some of you actually believe they won't have the m3 with more than 400hp but simply add 100 foot pounds. Come on-when has that EVER happened in history. This will follow the way of the new m5/m6 and will have 450 hp with 400 foot pounds of torque.

So all of the e90 m3 guys who seem to want to hold onto this fallacy of not having more hp-yes it will

Hold your horses there Mr. Internet Avenger!!

I think you are getting us off topic. I wasn't comparing the C63, or any other car, to the M3. I wasn't bashing the M3. I wasn't saying anything even remotely negative about the M3. What I said was that BMWs (including the M's) have, in fact, gotten heavier in each generation (I said porkier but it has the same meaning as heavier to all of us except the most sensitive ). It's a fact... not an opinion. That's all.. relax. Just wanted the person I replied to to supply their factual source that the M4 will be lighter... also, to be clear, not saying it won't be... just wanting to verify.

I'm as big of a fan of the E92 M3 as anyone with the only difference being that I don't have fanboy goggles on. My next car will likely be an M4. I'll be back on the bandwagon again soon enough (well, still have an M3 so I never really left).

That was the case only the case with the Z4 because it got a hard-top and the 7 Series. But as both the 5 Series and the 6 Series are based on the 7 Seiries, they too got heavier. However, starting from the X3, both the 1 Series and 3 Series got lighter. So this trend is to continue. And next 7 Series might be CF.

That's a nice story, but it's not possible. Unless BMW uses unbelievably small turbos or the motor redlines at like 5,000RPM, there is no way it can make 395lb/ft and only 420 horsepower.

It's very simple to calculate horsepower at a given RPM if you know how much torque the motor is making at that RPM. If the E80 M3 has a similar torque curve to the F10 M5, and if it makes 400lb/ft of torque at its peak, it would probably drop off fairly significantly by 7,000RPM but even if you are extremely conservative, it should make at least 350lb/ft at 7,000RPM which means it would also put out 466 horsepower. Historically, the smaller M3 motor has generally had a slightly higher redline than the M5 from the same period, so it's possible we will see a redline even higher than the F10's 7,200.

We won't know for sure until it's announced, but I'll be surprised if the M3 ends up with any less than 450 horsepower if it really does have ~400lb/ft of torque.
