Exhaust sounds... Meh. The best thing about it is when it shifts. I like the pop sound.
I wouldn't be surprised to see if it has a magnetic suspension ala 458, CTS-V. It is a longer/wider car so one would expect it to handle better/be more stable.

Not much they can do about the sound, louder than the E9x M3 stock for sure. I only care if it is good to drive. People complained about the motor in the 1M, but that car turned out to be a driving masterpiece. Hoping the same applies to the M3.

Sounds like a fart can but I like the popping off throttle during declaration. Looks balanced but heavy, like the M5. My guess is I will still want it regardless of what I think, see and hear in the prototype vids.

Err I think that a tuned N54 335i sounds nicer than this so-called M3! Seriously.
It does look very rapid but that isn't everything when I shop at this price point. I suspect Benz's offering in the form of the all new C63 will be competitive. It is rumoured to have a newly designed, bespoke V8 TT that is both lighter and more economical than the outgoing NA 6.2 V8. I am sure it will sound a LOT better than than the M3 too. We shall see.... |

e30,e36,e46,e9x base models you can´t get whit 2k$ same power that M-model (whitout FI) you need to which whole engine. Yep M- means lot more than just engine, but the intake roaring on cabin is just the special thing in I6. |

It sorta sounds like a 335is to me
And even w larger turbos it won't have the top end of the S65 Will it be fun and get up to 210 clicks fast yes but after that remains to be seen Seems more suited for hockenheim and seems like its gonna eat tires |

Don't know if you guys noticed, but the car in the first video is definitely a manual!
Honestly, stop moaning about the exhaust. This is louder than any standard 335i. Either way, exhausts can always be changed. Most of us always go for aftermarket either way. I'm mostly interested in the feel of the car. Will it feel raw, fast and agile, or calm and muted like the new M5. The old M3 gained plenty of weight and lost that old, raw charm of the E46 M3. I'm hoping BMW will be bringing some of that back, having learnt by the 1-Series M Coupé - which was a fantastic little car. |

In terms of sound, I'm really glad they switched back to an inline 6 for the M3/4. I have a personal bias against V8s. Aside from a select few (i.e. the S65) they all produce a displeasing sound to me, highly related to the fact that anything that sounds remotely like Chevy, Ford, or Dodge, LT, LS whatever or any pick'em up truck upsets me. That general range of notes just sounds like garbage to me. A big reason why I would never choose an AMG over an M.

Anybody who doesn't think the final product won't sound exactly like this is kidding themselves. We've been down this road before, very recently.

Looks so well planted (and obviously well driven). Final product will be great to get my hands on.
I'm quietly confident most owners won't get the car anywhere near it's performance limit |

At least there isn't a trace of drone on the video lol! At this stage, they don't care about the exhaust sound I'm sure, and it's probably being worked on separately. Sad though, the s65 sounds way better. On the one video where the e92 M3 is following you can hear that engine difference and how the 6 cylinder engine sounds like crap.
Even the worst s65 exhaust systems sound better imho. I know, I know I gotta quit comparing the future vs the present. Oh well, we'll have to move past that. It's a new world. Still sounds better than a prius or a leaf. On the serious tip, it's looking great handling the turns.

Yeah the E46 had more of that raspy in your face metallic gear gnawing noise
The thing is the E92 has it too you just got to really get into it... I do agree the.E9x has a little more soundproofing but still is way radical to stretch out the gears... prob more due to smg vs dct The F8x will be that stealth sound except for the exhaust... Especially after it is broken in you'll get that drone at 60 and the nice exhaust note at cold start up lower gears through freeway structures, parking garages and tunnels but won't have that race car sound as you climb to red line I still bet this car will give oh shit factor in curves and hopefully it will come with an extended torque boost timeframe of more than 7 seconds So I'm thinking they will say it has 414 hp, 395 tq but has temp tq boost to 435-450 and will it have the 7 speed manual or 8-dct? |
