I think the E9x front end has aged so beautifully.

Some things about this post seem wrong.
1) The DCT for the new car is 89lbs heavier? Dafuq?
2) The e90 M3 does not make "414hp @ 1850-5500 RPM"

Both cars look noice

Pretty sure the S65 doesn't make 414bhp from 1800 rpm through 5500 rpm.

+1 agreed. But the new M3 looks great too. Too bad the engine couldn't be the same

i never liked the japanese/korean looking front end of the E9X.....it just never looked german OR BMW to me in any way. The grille was way too angled, as BMWs should have a more vertical grille. I did love the E90's rear end though.....very aggressive and minimalist.

all in all, the F80 is a huge improvement over the E90 for the front end, but i prefer the E90's rear end.......but the F80 pushes the M3 into a whole new stratosphere of performance....

The F80 looks so much better. I love these side-by-side comparisons.

"414 HP @ 1850-5500 RPM"

Why doesn't that sound accurate?

God, those M seat emblems....

Rear end of the F80 looks too tall compared to the E90 as well...similar to the M235...

Other than that, liking the new M3 sedan.

The E90 M3 is one tight package even when just given the standard 18" wheels it holds it own in the first pic. With the comp. pack wheels it would be even more difficult to see a clear "winner" in looks. I like the E90 front end better from all angles but I prefer the mid to rear side profile of the F80. Two good looking cars.

We would need the Comp.Package F80 pics as well then.

It really does make the E9X look dated, which isn't meant to suggest that the E9X doesn't look good......but damn! It's crazy how much has changed.

In my head, it wasn't that much difference, but in reality, it is, intresting comparison!
The E9* M3 is cheaper looking, less modern, and less special.
As for the new M3/4, it's more bold, it's got much more flair and attitude, it looks more premium also.
The only gripe i've got with it, is the end, to busy imo, trying to much!
But a much more aggresive, modern M than it's predesecesor.
I'm looking on my wall at work, where a E46 Phoenix gelb M3 just have been announced, the year was 2000.
It also looks aged, but it looks classy and more rounded than the E9*M3.
I guess every model has it's charm, E46 M3 is special, and i think the new M3/4 will be as well.

The e90 looks quite dated. Everything about the f80 looks better, with the exception of those m emblems on the seats. Wish there was a delete option for those.

This is a terrible comparison, as usual, I mean this site holds hands with BMW NA and they can't get comparable stock photos?

One of the photos the E90 M3 is wearing 18's, the other they picked the bland grey interior to compare it to the black F80?

The shots are not even the same, studio shots which are exaggerating the lines on the F80 and real life shots for the E90.

The e9x front end looks as good as it was first released. It looks distinctly European, classy, and aggressive. The new one looks like a Japanese aftermarket body kit. New, yes, but not what I would consider an upgrade by any means. And the new hood dome...really, a giant square? Doesn't really go well with the rest of the design IMHO. The interior is definitely an upgrade...with my personal exceptions of the "M" logos on the seats and the iPad sticking out of the dash like it was an afterthought ("oh wait, we need a nav system....lets put it HERE!")

The F80 is a technological achievement for sure, but the exterior is too busy (with too many "air curtains" that 99.9% of drivers will never see the benefit of), too trendy, and a design that will not have a place in the annals of "beautiful" cars. You look 20+ years from its release and I really don't think the e9x will look as dated as its age may suggest.

I'm waiting for the next model year and seeing if they fix what I feel are faults with the car...and LOVING my e90 in the meantime!

My $0.02

I still hate the way the back door is just a straight line, where on the E90 it flows nicely with the curve of the wheel arch. It's not a big deal it just looks unfinished to me - wouldn't stop me from getting the car though. Also, noticed the interior side seat comparison in the posted images are from an M4 and E92.

I'll take the E90. Looks better to me. Especially the front end. New one is trying too hard.

They had to add a few new threads on the front page so people would stop talking about the new BMW minivan, er, 225 active tourer...

That interior pic isn't even a E90, it's a E92. And why use the base wheels in the 2nd exterior E90 pic, yet all the F80 pics are upgraded wheels.
