Come on guys 40 - 60 from 50 - 50 isn't that much of a "leap forward" ... If anything I'm thinking the turbo to be variable turbine geometry like the 911 turbo has which could open up some tuning platforms to make it a ROCKET

1. Variable turbine geometry turbos are a PITA in many ways. I know, having two on one of my vehicles... 2. The m3/m4 does not have variable turbine geometry turbos. |

I've owed every M3 since the e36 and based on history it is probable that I could own a F8X M3 as well but at this stage of the game this is starting to sound like contrived propaganda and unfortunately any anticipation is now starting wane. Amazed how many folks are already emotionally attached to this car based solely on pictures and some numbers. The endless and often baseless pontification is becoming nauseating. Looking forward to real world data and getting passed this window of speculation.

that said, its equally amazing to me how someone could get less interested in a car based on the amount of marketing (which is no different than any other carmaker at this time, marketing is extremely popular these days) I am interested in the car because I think it will be awesome. not because it is or isn't marketed a lot. those things have zero to do with how the car will perform and what it looks like (seen it in person) jmo

I saw the M4 concept in person back in August @ Laguna Seca so I have had a lot of time to take in the car and data. Cautiously optimistic

we need real on-track reviews... like Tiff Needell going sideways beating this thing into
submission. I remember when the e9x m3 was announced a bunch of press was invited to a course in Spain to test the car with tons of videos and feedback... it also doesn't help that this car has no future racing derivative assigned to it either (at least the e9x had the GT cars with flat pane crank version of the V8) so far all we've seen is a bunch of beauty shots and claims of setting the bar again by ///M marketing fan boys. (yes drink the coolaid.. and spend $75k) |

Here's to hoping. I'm looking forward to driving an M4 and seeing how it feels. I have to admit, I'm also cautiously optimistic also.

Wait... So a company advertising their product and speak highly of it means the product sucks? Everything you all own has been advertised in a positive way/spin. And torque makes a shit load of difference in the driving experience, it's not over rated it's only over rated if the car you drive now doesn't have any... What else are you going to say? What do you think an M car that is I6 twin turbo can deliver? Look at the N54 engine, the possibilities are endless now that same concept is molded in an M car with M suspension, better cooling etc... Cautiously optimistic? Sure, it's how life is for almost all of us. No racing future? Oh yes the beast V8 rears it's slow ugly head again in the debate. It's a matter of time, few more months and we ll know for sure but to blindly hate is just plain stupid. For the M owners that are here with negative spin, most M cars have delivered as advertised, why would it stop now? Oh that's right, every 7 years when a model is changed everyone has to bitch and moan.

No offense but shocked is just the wrong adjective here. I'll happily take surprised.
The only time I've been "shocked" by the power in a wheeled vehicle was the first time I rode a competition two-stroke motocross bike. That was truly a shocking power delivery for me. And I rode a GSX-R 1100 at the time which was fast but my gawd it was nothing like the ferociousness of that mad motocross bike. |

I have yet to see a commercial on TV... So where are the hype? Corporate? Sure that is normal, BMW websites? Well duh!! It's a business, businesses change and adapt to what's around them. Different times, different marketing crew and mind set...
