Does European s55 directly bolt on without mods to USA spec f80?

I'm in need of a good used engine so I can rebuild my current blown s55 and I found great deals overseas on ultra low mileage engines but can't find any differences other than the engine wiring harness. Please help if you know if the European s55 is a direct replacement to my USA spec f80 thank you!!!

Thanks so much for the reply!!!! Like I said the only difference I have found was the wiring harness since the ECU is in the other side so the rhd engine harness wouldn't work but I have the lhd harness on my engine I would use. I would save a lot compared to buying one stateside and get ultra low miles.

It had exhaust and a tune on it, I'm not sure of the HP but it is the competition package and it was faster by quite a bit over a different f80 I test drove. I was racing a hellcat on the freeway kicking his ass and it shut off shifting into 6th doing somewhere around 140+ I would guess. When I towed it to the dealer they said they can't access the dme it just reads out " bmw m3 tune" .I only had the car a couple of months and it was low miles (55k). I was driving really hard for about 20-30 min with a lot of back road 100+ moments then hit the highway to race the hellcat 3 times.

if it goes off without making any strange noise it could have spin the crank hub.

That bmw dealer has not been able to connect to the dme is very strange, I use the same diagnostic program as them and I can connect at any time.

Take the car to a competent workshop, if the crankhub spin the engine is not broken.

They said there was metal in the oil that's how they came up with a $57,000 estimate!!!!!! Hahaha hell no I said and then while there my car got put on blocks and my wheels stolen! I'll look into the crank hub. Does the hub just get replaced and then the motors good? Now that I'm thinking about it that makes sense, crank not spinning so power and everything is shut off!!!! Then later it kinda wanted to start but sounded like ass!!!! Wow thank you so much I haven't even done any looking into it myself cause I was hands and foot deep in an engine swap on my 2004 sti.

We'll if there truly is metal in the oil then the engine is likely beyond just a spun crank hub.

Since I'm guessing you're not going to take on the $50k+ estimate from the dealer, might still be a good idea to have a trusted Indy shop inspect and get another quote.

And sorry to hear about your wheels. I would make the dealer pay up asap.
