took everything apart like a fool and realized there were no instructions included. Luckily disassembly and reassembly is like 15-20 mins to get all the trim and screws out so all good. Waiting for the "tech specialist" at bimmerplug to send me the directions on Monday. Install SHOULD be straightforward and I probably don't even need the directions, but Id rather not have to do it 2-3 times to get it right so I'm telling my impatient self to fucking waitttttt lol

im thinking none of the wiring is needed if you have an iPhone. think its just if you want to add android capability to the unit but not 100%

I didn't need all the wiring adapters. Iphones work a little better than androids. I bought the Xtrons listed on Amazon, but they are all very similar.

I have the 10” X5 touch screen the one that Tommy L garage did. I upgrade my 4 nbt to an EVO. I have idrive 6 with full screen car play. Was pricey but worth every penny. 90% of people that look at my interior don’t know it’s not factory.

I was thinking of doing this too but I am worried that the G8x screen, with its somewhat trapezoidal shape and large bezel, would look goofy in the F8x. They should have made an adapter for the F15/F85 10.25 screen. It looks much more “factory” IMHO.

But I look forward to seeing how it turns out for you … maybe you’ll change my mind!

I did a 10.25" G30 screen years ago. No cutting required, but did take a little creativity (and I've since refined a better back cover).

Fitted and coded and looked really good! This was an LG screen which BMW changed to after 2018 and resolution looks even better as well! Early 2018 or late 17 G series screen is not LG.

In terms of trapezoid it’s better than square as gives a gap to see out of the windshield between the Guage cluster and screen easier and matches the shape of the AC controller inverse.

Was plug and play with bimmertech adaptor 😅

Ohh, that's pretty cool. I guess Bimmertech saw what I did and decided to make a more "production version" of it. That back cover looks good.

Do you get used to the slightly obstructed view?

I had a G30 before my F82 so this would be ideal

Thanks as did see the square screen from F15 with the silver trim around did not like as just looked like an afterthought and visability is blocked on them and sits slightly further back. Also it’s not plug and play fit which I did not want to cut anything.

This screen with the kit sits slightly further forward which makes it slightly easier to touch it and gap between cluster and screen is bit bigger due to shape.

Screen was from EBay but had to go hunting around as BMW changed manufacture from 2019 to LG anything older is made in Thailand by another company KYOCERA and screens seems to be less bright and some issues were reported with flickering. Alpine made the 8.8 screens for BMW.
