How many days before PCD did you sign the paperwork and pay for the car?

I'm curious how many days in advance of Performance Center Delivery most of you finalized paperwork, paid for the car, etc. I know they need some lead time and registration worked out, but curious how far in advance.

Dealer obviously wants me to sign ASAP, but I don't want to be paying on car I don't own yet, or pay another month's excise. Delivery is 4/07, wondering if 4/01 is really too late.

Thanks

The earliest I would pay would be the 31st. That's just a week ahead of your delivery and is nothing. Obviously your dealer and CA will love you for getting that car signed this month. Do you want to wait till April to see the new rates? If you're leasing it might be worth it.

I was originally looking at lease but going select finance now. I have substantial trade in too so tax advantage is a benefit to me as well. Dealer agreed to rerun on 1st or make up deal differences of changes for me so that I sign in March. Not sure I trust that.

This isn't a dealer requirement, it's a BMW requirement. There must be sufficient time for the deal to be fully processed/funded. My experience has only been with ED which requires at the least a 2 week advance transaction, but I understand that PCD is similar.

Bear in mind that financing isn't necessarily tied to the day of the month that you sign the contract. In my case, I signed on 3/15, but my first payment isn't due until 4/29 for my ED which is on 4/4. You're so close at this point that it's not going to matter in my opinion.

My PCD is on 4/1. I'm signing on 3/28. Dealer didn't have an issue with this, but didn't want to wait any later. In your situation, I would wait at least until April programs come out if possible, since they may be an improvement over March. I'm not sure I like trusting the dealer to make up any differences in the programs.

Usually about 1 week or so. I pick up on March 28 but signed on the 15th since my CA would be out of town. Also, you can adjust the payment due date if necessary. Also, you have 10 days after the due date to make a payment before the payment goes to collection. Clearly not advised to wait after due date but BMW provides this buffer anyway to be more flexible.

I just adjusted my due date from the 15th to the 28th via bmwfs website no problem and a few clicks.

It all worked out fine. Performance Center issued me a temp plate and I'll get my state plates this week at local dealer.

Of interest, another guy from MA (same state) was picking up an X3 and his dealer had him fly down with his real plates.

Some dealers are a bit stricter on the process.

Being in Georgia I had a gentleman pay 2 days before picking up at the performance center. That was a little too close for comfort for me, but it was the only time he could come in.

He took his temp tag and had a blast though.

I hope you do as well!

My dealer is asking to come in and sign the paperwork 30 days before delivery. Getting financed through bmw financials. PCD delivery scheduled for Jan 11 and paperwork is scheduled to be completed Dec 10.
