Uncommon at least from what I've seen so far. Rather the lack thereof. Sorry about the terrible quality, just screenshots from my IG archives.

Ok. Thank you. I’m in Houston. So yes several places in town that do it. But I’ll prob buy a bunch of materials practice skinning other things sitting around garage. Then if all goes well do these myself. A co-worker has made and skinned several parts in Forged carbon for his Delorean

good idea. also when you take them out use a big nail and hammer or a big head drill. blow the plastic welding nicely so it does not turn into a pain when you refit. you may go through the part but will be ok since you are reskinning them

Stunning work.

May I ask what did you use on the headliner and rear shelf to glue the alcantara?

Also did you remove the existing fabric or glue the alcantara over it?

I'm currently trying to do mine.

Many thanks

Concur with the above. Below is another thread on the topic which goes into a bit more detail on the process. I just redid my headliner in Alcantara as well.

Edit: jaylazy2020 I just realized you started the above thread - which was my motivation actually. I thought you were done with your headliner. What happened?

Thanks. I've be using a 3M adhesive but the real shelf has separated from the direct sunlight.

What brand and model adhesive did you use?

Thanks.

I got 90% of the headliner done quite nicely but in the meantime the C pillars and rear shelf have come unstuck a little which is prob due the direct sun.

Plus I've been away for work so haven't had time.

I really want to get it sorted in the next 4 weeks.

I used the DAP Weldwood gel contact cement (with a paint brush) for the pillars and rear deck and the DAP Weldwood Top Landau contact cement (in a spray can) for the headliner. The Top Landau stuff is specifically designed by DAP Weldwood for headliners and other automotive upholstery applications. However, reading the specs for the gel and the Top Landau variants revealed both variants work the same with upholstery in the automotive environment.

I used the gel for the pillars since I wanted better control with glue coverage by using a brush rather than spray. Worked out very well, but became more tedious with a larger piece like the rear deck. That is why I went with the Top Landau in a spray can to do the headliner.

More details, with pics, in the thread I posted above (the one you started and which motivated me to do this….)

DAP Weldwood gel contact cement is the best one as far as I know you can't get it to Ireland.

any 3m or most of the spray can stuff will not hold guys. best to use a paint brush or spray gun with proper contact adhesive.

regarding to blades, I had the exact dilemma but unfortunately you won't be able to find it as it is "Shadow Chrome" one from what I can see in your dash trim. So sides will not match. You can try to color code them but I personally did not like mines. At the end I end up having the whole piece, including that shadow chrome bit in carbon.

However it is now one of the pieces that look overcarboned to me. so I am planning to have it retrimmed in something like this but with M4 writing with yellow shade behind.

You can then do all the blades in the dash and door cards in carbon.

However doing that you need to put back your original leather door handles( which look nicer imo) so there would not be over carbon.

Lol just thinking of it I think I have spent most of the time on the door cards
[QUOTE=deli333;29279438]

Hi deli333 , hope you are doing well! Great progress on your build, looks amazing. I had a quick question for you regarding the side blades: I was told these parts are very hard to paint (was going to try to match as best possible to the front dash) due to some kind of wax-type coating. My shop even tried to wrap it, but the wrap wouldn't stick. Any suggestions on how I could address this? I bought an extra OEM set of blades for the front and back doors, so I'd like to experiment to see what might work. Please let me know whenever you get a chance- thanks!
