Jason brings some awesome info to the forum and makes this forum a huge asset for us. But in this single (outlier) case it has caused more confusion. Can't wait to just get the final pricing and order sheets. I would assume this would make Jason's life easier as well.

You need to know how to use it most effectively. What I do, is use the My BMW Remote app on my iphone, find the address I need through the app, which is a google map app, and then email this to my car. 100% accurate, every time.

Alternatively, if I am in my car, I use that app (google maps inside my bmw remote) to pin point the exact address and then enter it manually into the BMW nav or just send it to the car.

I never use "points of interest" in the BMW nav database. Since the app uses google maps and it is drawn from the internet, it is as close as you can get to "now" data.

This thread makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a sharp object. So much griping about what's standard and what's not and how it relates to weight savings. If you want a stripped out track car the Z28 comes out soon. For $75k you can get a Camaro with no AC or radio to weigh you down or you can buy an M3/M4 with all that extra included heavy stuff for just a little less.

I am talking about entering an exact address and the BMW Navi taking me to a destination often 10 blocks away. Frustrating to the point that I don't use it at all anymore.

I hear you. I guess thats not much different from those of us who prefer using our mirrors than these new fangled "active blind spot monitoring" systems.

I personally love the new technology and think it makes the vehicle a better car. For most of us who aren't tracking the car for record-breaking times, that nav sure comes in handy in new areas. Combine that with the traffic-tracking ability of the nav and you've got a pretty convenient system.

Not necessarily. It varies from country to country. And so far, the standard equipment is known only in a few countries. As much as I know, UK has a lot standard, but other countries don't. As for Germany, it's not even official on the BMW website what will be standard (which is kind of absurd, as it already have other countries). But I wouldn't bet that in Germany, for instance, the Navi Professional or leather upholstery will be standard. Not to mention that the base price is already much higher than in the US.

WRONG. did you see the maps I posted? That is bad routing. Not bad user input.

Good tip! I do have several key contacts and address stored in navi also, I.e. Home, work, Eric.

the base price of all cars is always higher in Europe vs the us, partially due to taxes. that is not unique to the m3.

also, I will admit that the pricing isn't out for the m3 in Germany yet. however, every single place that the pricing IS out, nav has been included. in places like the UK and Belgium the cars come standard with 19s, adaptive suspension and leather instead of the cloth/leather

color me surprised if this changes in Germany.
