Jason probably changed it while moving it to the "vendor comments/review/feedback" forum.

This whole thread should have a big ass EDIT on the first post.

While that may be, why did you specify that is was ST BMW that did you wrong when it was a completely different dealer that denied the claim? Why was that omitted from your story? Wouldn't you be upset at the other dealer in this case or BMW in general?

Just curious here.

Car has warranty, went to a local dealer and said they couldn't help as i did not buy from them.. So i contacted ST, who i bought the car from... but am 60+miles away and they said they couldn't do anything when they in all reality can... hence the thread

This is what you posted.

Along with your original title, anyone reading this post can reasonably assume you were saying that you noticed the scratch next morning, took it back to David/ST BMW and they denied your claim. The other details of your story drastically changes who is wrong. I'm not saying you are wrong to be upset, but the way you initially presented your case on this forum was all sorts of wrong. I hope you get it all sorted out though.
You just got too excited and mis-read the thread

I did not buy mine from this dealership, but as usual I have something to say about this too.

I noticed I had scratches in my bumper two days after buying the car. Someone before I got him had done a bad job parking it, I was sure it wasn't me. I let it go since I had left the dealership (even I don't spend two days sitting still checking everything) and because I had done a halfass job in inspecting the vehicle before accepting it.

To me it always sounds like we are trying to make the seller cover shit we know should be on us. I'm not saying this is the case in this.

I'm sure a month for floor mats seems like a big wait for many but guys I'm going to share a huge secret with you now: Nobody wants to think we actually care this much. Other people move on and we are the ones stuck obsessing.

Still doesn't make much sense... even if you took it to another dealer right away that denied the claim why wouldn't you call the folks at Steve Thomas the next day to complain.

I hate to say it but if they really didn't hear about it until a month after delivery I don't blame them for not being able to do anything about it. Its actually very reasonable.

So how long post delivery did you talk to the other dealer?

Regardless of the time which is only 3 weeks, there is still a damaged part on a $91,900 car which has 40,000 mile warranty

The warranty period is 4 year/50,000 miles. A damaged part does not necessarily mean it is covered by warranty. It depends on who caused the damage.

You're right, it has a warranty but please do remember it does not protect the car from damage made by us ( apparently sunshade mirror is excluded from this rule). I would assume as the salesman that the person wanting a new part messed it up by themselves and want me to pay for it. That's why I didn't bother to start arguing about my bumper either.

I think you could have handled this much sooner and more efficiently by emailing the dealership immediately after seeing said defective part. Then you could have followed up with a phone call, I'm sure they would have told you to bring it in to see what could be done. Even if you didn't want to travel all the way back you could have mentioned that a came to some kind of mutual agreement. Like I said in my other post, I got top notch service from David and his assistant Jimmy and golffrr here in the forums. I know we all handle situations differently and in this case you probably should have gone straight to dealing with Steve Thomas sooner rather than later. Either way I hope everyone involved in this comes out satisfied.

Noticed the slice the next day later but notified the dealer 3 weeks later. As Seth and Amy would say...REALLY?!?!?!

there are a million things that could have caused a little slice like that on the airbag. Waiting as long as you did a dealer can way too easily claim it wasn't them. I feel for you but can't blame them. When I bought my Grand Cherokee I noticed the following day that it had a bunch of scratches on the inside of the windshield. I was busy and travelling so I didn't tell the dealer for about 2-3 weeks. The guy essentially ignored me which I expected and I didn't push the issue. My fault for not pushing it inside of a window where the scratches were more likely their fault not mine.

Put it this way: if you came in after a month with a scratch on the front fender claiming it was there at delivery would you expect them to fix it? Same exact situation.

Yeah, the OP's post ended up being highly misleading once all the facts came out. Yet another reminder to wait until hearing both sides of the story before breaking out the pitchforks.

To be honest, the fact that Steve Thomas is even trying to make him whole after he tried to drag them through the mud is awesome. It makes me actually want to check them out for my 2016 ED order even though they're almost 70 miles north of where I live.

The survey usually arrives within 3 days of the BMW NA retail registration.

The survey is timed the second it leaves the system.

After 30 days you can still complete the survey, but the System does not score it. It will just appear as a "rant" and no one gives a crap since it doesn't drop the store's score, the salesman's score (or compensation if the payment plan is setup that way)

You should have completed the survey when you were prepared to do it. That's the only real way those work. How can a BMW NA initial satisfaction survey really work if you wait. The GM of the store has a follow up on any negative survey that he completes after your issues are or are not resolved.

I'm not taking sides as I've been there as a SC and as a customer.

Really, your best bet is with BMW NA.

Again, this is a rather important detail missing from your first post that set this all on the wrong track.

Shades of 'my oil cooler is broke - recall!' Which turned into 'I drove over a hunky of metal while I was on the phone while driving'.

If you don't want to be shit on for being misleading and alarmist, watch the accusations and how strongly you out swinging. Put another way: get your facts right and keep the accusations light.

Good look OP, I feel you..... I too thought I was best friends with the dealership bringing them a handful of business then boom things changed.... Call BMWNA and get the steering wheel replaced, then move onto a different dealership. Cali has many!

The OP didn't make a mistake or do anything wrong. All he did was post a slanderous message about a dealer and a salesman with false and misleading information to gain sympathy from the F30 crowd and get leverage to get the dealer to cave.

Did "nothing wrong" and then you list what you did? I agree with your list.

This is the F80 crowd
