Its not necessary. A lot of people like the sound with the semi open ducts so I imagine they will not change.

Hi Imran,

Would like to understand why the change in design. As mentioned by your earlier videos, there was a reason to keep the duct open. You said the testing showed that open ducts made more power due to some turbulence.

If that's the case, why are you making a new one with closed ducts now? Same power?

What changed? The positions of the intakes are still the same. Airflow should still be the same. Why change to a closed duct system now and contradict the previous findings?

And if power is the same, while sound is reduced, what's the reason behind the new design?

Cheers

DCT or manual?

Manual cars are louder when they release the clutch and leave it open. DCT is seamless so has less Psshhttt sound unless you let go throttle and change up gear at same time.

The reason behind the change in design is for peoples perception of it. We had to go closed duct on the M2C as you can not fit scoops without modifiying the car. M3/M4 owners saw them and said they wanted the same. So we delivered.

They assume because it is semi open the IAT are high. They are not when you start moving. Of course when stationary there is a difference in IAT.

I can run semi open or fully closed on my own F80 M3. Makes zero difference to the Dragy times 60-130mph.

Makes sense. Maybe you should offer 2 versions. One is loud and hotter. One is silent and cooler.

Imran, are the sealed ducts on one or both sides in the new design?

Wouldn't the sealed version lose the sound?
