Apple Carplay USB Activation @kubax86

Hello everyone. I reached out to kubax86 and got Carplay activated in my 2017 BMW M4. It was a very smooth process and a lot cheaper than what the dealer was going to charge ($300). I created a video on the process below. Check it out.

I got it done as well. Good stuff but be aware it causes an issue where you can no longer log into the head unit via an app like Bimmercode.

Does this mean no coding at all with Bimmercode? Ever? I wish I had been told this before.

haha in the same boat. Haven't installed the car play just yet though, was waiting on a USB stick to get delivered.

Message @Kubax86 and he let me know that only the HU changes may be blocked (previously mentioned by Oneof500). He said if you need any changes afterwords he can assist remotely. Great Customer Service

It will not erase any previous changes.
It's just a fault in Bimmercode App that it cannot properly ready coding data. With E-Sys you can still code everything you want.
As a solution I offer to my customers free of charge headunit coding after CarPlay activation - so no worries. Everything stays the same, and like I said I provide support for all activations.

how is your method different than bimmer-tech? Bimmertech doesn't seem to have any issues with using bimmercode afterwards.

Also, your method seems to require the ethernet - obd2 connector. My laptop doesn't have an ethernet connector. Is this absolutely necessary?

There’s a usb to Ethernet connector to connect the DME from the odbii

Mine method is exactly THE SAME.
Software software needs USB, some needs ENET.
Anything above NBTEVO_O needs ENET Cable.
The only difference between bimmertech is the price. They are around 6x times more expensive for the same product

+1 for recommending kuba .

Just got idrive 4 to 6 and CarPlay done by him on my f82 - he's amazing to work with

Price is amazing considering how much everybody else's charges too. Local coder wanted 4x the price kuba asks.

Was interested in doing the Idrive upgrade and full screen Apple CarPlay on my 2016 F82. I already have bimmercode codes setup, will those be erased. Can I add more codes if needed in the future when CarPlay and new idrive is installed. Also when I purchase the package on your website, what would I need further so you can start the process for me. Thanks man

Only codes in headunit will be erased - they are including in the package so we can restore them during the session.
You'll need to have ENET Cable, Windows PC and WIFI antenna for my iDrive 6 + Carplay Fullscreen Package.

kubax86 I just purchased and received the Bimmer-Remote software file to add Apple Car Play to my 2018 L prefix iDrive6 F80 via USB. Have not installed yet. Previously I have used the Carly app to do some coding. Will installing your Apple Car Play enable file erase my previous codings done through the Carly app? And will I be able to use the Carly app for any future codings after enabling Apple Car Play using your file? Is Carly effected differently than Bimmercode? Any information and advice appreciated!

It won't affect your previous coding, but you won't be able to use bimmercode/carly afterwards the activation (for headunit/idrive only) - so first code what you need then apply the CarPlay activation
