First LCI was 2016 or 2017 can’t remember. Different tail lights and introduction of Comp package. 2018 had a mild LCI with the “Icon” headlights and some very minor interior changes. Maybe intro of the black 666M wheels too. Not sure when iDrive 6 was introduced. Clear as mud?

You need to be clearer with your inquiry. Are you inquiring about the M3 or the M4?
M3 LCI occurred with MY2016 which introduced new taillight design and some minor cosmetic interior trim changes. M4 LCI occurred with MY2018 which introduced new taillight and headlight designs. Since the M3 shares the front-end with the F32/F82, it also benefited from the new headlights at the same time. The M3/4 also got fake stitching on the dash. Note that for both the M3 and M4, taillights have always been LED lit even pre-LCI. LCI brought LED lighting to the turn signals, brake and reverse lights. There have been multiple other changes during the lifetime of the F8X outside of the "LCI". https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1124280 https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1344241

True for the F32, not for F8X.

2018 M3
New headlights, tail lights, updated fake stitching in dashboard (minor changes but I like them) Idrive 6.0 (really nice) CF driveshaft replaced with steel (Starting nov‘17 builds and later). Likely for cost. Probably some minor tweaks in drivability and handling. I love how my 2018 ZCP drives. 2018 also had a lot of cars with extra options (mine had 763 wheels, m-performance package with CF stuff and MPE from factory). |

That's a shame they dropped the cf driveshaft...they made a big deal about that when the vehicle was released. This had me checking my build date.

in 2016, a newer climate control font was introduced (more modern), idrive 5 was introduced and for the F80 M3 new tail lights were introduced. this is also when the comp pack was introduced. in 2017, apple carplay was introduced as well as adaptive suspenion being standard (was 1000$ option before) in 2018, the F82 and F83 M4 received new tail lights, and all the F8x received new ICON adaptive LED headlights, as long as you get the executive package. idrive 6 was also introduced as well as minor updates, like black emblems on the seats. if you want the updated lights you need a 2018+. if you want the updated lights on an M3 (tail lights updated, headlights are still not the most updated) you get a 2016+. If you do get a 2015-2017 make sure you have the lighting package so you get full LED headlights that look way better than the base xenons. if you get 2018+ get the executive pack to get the beautiful new headlights known as icon adaptive LED's that have a sort of hexagonal shape to them w black housings. that's if you want the most updated/upgraded lights. |

What he said.
The choice for me really boils down to 2015 vs 2018. The tails can be updated easily for $800. The icon headlights are extremely expensive at 5-6k. The 2015-2017 adaptive LEDs look ok on lighter colored cars like MW or SS... Since it's a silver housing.
